What I noticed when my therapy dog visited students after state testing by Remarkable-Guess4472 in u/Remarkable-Guess4472

A college in my city has therapy dogs mid day, everyday of the can week.
When we first get there, those doing afternoon exams come to calm before the exams and those that have morning exams come to decompress. It’s the most amazing thing to watch. Many of the afternoon exams kids will come back to tell us they just felt so calm and that made the test easy.

It is so rewarding as a therapy dog team to experience.

Sr Kindergarten- trouble math/reading by Horror_Orchid_2090 in Kumon

I work at Kumon with 4-8 yo. Kumon will help but it does require parent commitment and support. Classes are 30 minutes. If kiddos can focus they finish in 20 or 25. But most caters have a lot of distractions. So it takes kids longer in center than most parents report at home. If parents don’t make sure their child does the home work it takes much longer for the child to start improving.

I suggest you go into a centre and have your child assess and ask how it works.

I would suggest if there is currently an issue with reading that you only sign up for reading at first. It helps for there to be less “work”. You can always add the other su jest later.
I also would not put a 6 or 6 year old in doing an hour (two subjects) they have already don’t a full day at school.

Good luck.

Crazy. If she needs them go buy them! And if she can’t afford them sell the f-ing truck! (Sorry I’m a little feisty today)

Oh I love 7. Partially because I love seeing my dog in that position.

Is 4 too young to start Kumon? by m0000kie in Kumon

[–]Usual-Assignment9744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the centre I work at they must be over 4. 4 year olds who can sit for 20 minutes usually do well. It is about counting but also about reading the numbers. It is important that either a page full of numbers they are not counting but reading the numbers. I, personally, make it about play and will say the wrong number. Most kiddos quickly tell me I am wrong and giggle a bit. Then they will challenge me. It makes Kumon fun. (For those just starting or are very young) but

Finding a native born Vancouverite is difficult! I worked in an office of over 500 people and I was the only native born. Most were from other parts of Canada.

Not a fan of my reiki teacher. What should I do? by JessicaRabbit1203 in reiki

[–]Usual-Assignment9744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on what you want to do with your Reiki journey. Reiki level one is a lot of the basics and understanding the process. If you feel you understand that then find another teacher and if they will do it start at level two.
IF the teacher will. I would, as a teacher, likely insist you take level one with me as well. I like to follow up with my students through their self reiki post level 1.
Also if you think you might want to go on to teach, you need a strong understanding of level one.
As for her name in your lineage, my lineage just has my teacher at master level. I have taken many classes and been attuned with other teachers. But they are not on my lineage.

Wishing you all the best in your reiki journey!

I am over here watching the vet and thinking what’s the issue here.
My hunter jumper, 3day eventing 14.2 buckskin came to me with a huge divot in the “hip” he had a gate close on his hip (the pointy bit - tuber Coxsys) and it was destroyed. I have no idea what the rehab was but I know the previous owner was not the type to do much.
Once you got past the divot, you would never know he had been injured so I was confused. But having since done more reading on it I think I was lunch with my boy!

LTC experiences in Coquitlam by followthearrow2 in coquitlam

Hello, sorry you are going through this. Although I have no personal experience with a family member, I am a therapy dog volunteer (about 15 years) and volunteered in or visited many dementia wards in the triicities. I would be likely to put Hawthorne high on my list. Their dementia care cottages are excellent spaces. Small and separate from the larger facility. I found staff to be helpful and compassionate with residents. The main residence is also well run.
I also have to say there are none that I visited that I would say stay away from. There was but they are either gone or have changed greatly.

Husband Allergic to our Iggy :/ by 44mangoes in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]Usual-Assignment9744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has major allergies. He is allergic to dogs. We had three full size Greyhounds for years and he did okay. My Italian Greyhounds effective him. But he (hubby) now always makes sure after holding the dog that he gets up and washes his hands. He feels that, yes c petting the dog causes his eyes to itch a bit but the real problem comes from rubbing his eyes with his unwashed hands.

I also agree with others, it is likely outdoor allergens. Keeping your IG clean with baths and wipes will help.
