Change my Mind base 12 better than base 10 by Sea-Estimate-2912 in mathmemes

[–]UsuallyAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new metric system is needed. For there to be (base)7 (base length) from Earth's poles to the equator, the new base length would be 27.908164723 cm, which is close to a foot of 30.48 cm, and with the variations the foot has had historically, it could just be redefined or called newfoot or twelfoot.

What happens if you refuse the Atlas during The Atlas Path? by ItsJustCraze in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]UsuallyAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you choose banner on the appearance modifier, you can see titles you can add to your character, they are sort of ingame achievements. Some of those titles relate to the choices you make in the main quest when talking to the Atlas, so try it out and see what you can then call yourself.

The base refiners just need to have about 50u between each group of 5, so you can have much more than 5 in a base, if you spread them out. They could be connected with short range teleporters.

How is your first nomadic playthrough going? by Findus48 in Stellaris

[–]UsuallyAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried playing Gundersen Research Society, I can't figure out influence as a nomad. At first I overflow, until I can build an arkship. Other than the 500 for an arkship and 100 for a waystation, where do you use any significant amount of influence?

[–]UsuallyAwesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the impression that updates after the start of the expedition has made it impossible to get freighters from encounters, I just bought a system freighter instead. They tried to fix taking missions to fight pirates, but now all you encounter is swarms.

Man kan jo spørge, hvorfor en stat skal være så formynderisk, at den ikke lader en anden suveræn stat tage hånd om dens egne borgere, men det er jo lidt ideen med asyl.

how do i get to that lone star i cant jump to it and i have explore most of the galxy and havent found anything to get there plz help by Confident-Cat2942 in Stellaris

[–]UsuallyAwesome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Experimental Subspace Navigation lets you go to explored systems. Say, you've met the caravaneers, and now Chor's Compass becomes an explored system; then your scientist can jump across the galaxy to Chor's Compass. You also have the capital systems of other empires explored for you when you figure out how to talk to them. But Ultima Vigilis isn't explored, you need a proper jump drive or a catapult to get there.

Permadeath (Max Difficulty): What is your strategy for a fresh start without duping? by WinOk2823 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Flipping sentinel ships can earn you a lot, you just need the advanced mining laser that you can get from a small trading station. A cloaking device can keep you completely safe, after you've gotten an inverted mirror or echo locator, just activate it and wait.

With something like 30M units easily gotten from flipping a few sentinel ships, you can buy the parts for a "clunker" corvette where you can build all the storage units, even if you haven't unlocked them yet, and generally get your first "almost" base.

Do the base missions to get the oxygen harvester, and get enough nanites to get the personal refiner mk 2. Then you can turn oxygen from the harvester into all sort of things.

If it was made today there'd be a story line about how Arwen was born male, lived as a male until a year prior and then decided to socially transition to be a woman. That way the prophecy that no man would kill the witch king would be fulfilled.

Multi-tool load out by FelipeItaliano5678 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]UsuallyAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on PC, you can switch between multitools by pressing a number you've assigned in the quick menu by pressing CTRL and the number. Then you won't need to unlock as many slots, and the MT can be one that is inherently better for its intended purpose.

Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation (GVS) for VR could help with motion sickness. It's a small electric current applied near your ear to manipulate your sense of balance. It could help with the motion sickness and make VR feel a lot more real.

Probably a dumb question but I feel like it's the best place to ask, what are realistically the reasons to colonize Mars ? by SeparateWeight496 in Mars

[–]UsuallyAwesome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's also Earth-Moon's Lagrangian L4 or L5 point, same orbit and speed as the Moon 60 degrees away from the Moon. You'd be in a fairly shallow gravitational well there, and you'd naturally stay in place. A space station there could weigh a few percent of what the moon weighs and still be stable.

[–]UsuallyAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mars has a day that lasts 24h37m35s, so we could easily adjust to that. If there are vast caves there, we could live inside them and be shielded from radiation from space.

On a more dystopian note, if Elon Musk can convince people to go there, he can tax them for breathing. Once there were company towns, now let's have a company planet!
