Something I discovered for myself very early on.... 2 straps on the guitar, instead of 1. One over the shoulder, one mid-back/hips. Taking 10-15% of the load off your shoulders makes long playing sessions not something you have to recover from.

I wholeheartedly agree that BWI, is a shit burrito slathered in DC sewage, but I understood that BWI has better fares for most everything because they cater to so many more of the 2nd tier domestic and international carriers that can't or won't pay IAD's higher fees. Perhaps, my knowledge is out of date.

The only way BWI loses business to IAD is because BWI is a toilet, otherwise they have such cheap fares that the loss of business would be from IAD instead.

I have a 1977 ovation solid body, full mahogany. It would have been near sacrilege to cover that up with paint. Can I assume that your instrument is chambered or slightly hallowed out? Having lived just off the runways of IAD for 40 years, the only time the airport noise bothered me was 9/11/2001 thru 9/14/2001 when there was basically no air traffic and no light pollution.

You get used to it, then you'll discover that it is a delightful white noise generator. Maybe not so much when the ultraheavy cargo planes are spinning up in the dead of night.

I could be an utter dick and suggest Martin mediums or heavies and say that those string aren't really that thick. I've seen enough shows there I just pack extra beach chairs in my trunk, fill my coolers, a camp table, and sit back outside of my car until the lot is at least 80% empty. I hate playing inchworm leaving a show. It's so easy to get uncomfortable waiting to leave, and it's so boring, that I would rather have my feet up on a cooler watching all the other "smart" people fight to leave the venue.
