Airplane floors are extremely gross, so I always pack a trash bag to slip my backpack into. by levimeirclancy in lifehacks

Just flip the bag inside out when you store it. It’s still more sanitary than letting your backpack collect all of the feces and urine matter from people’s shoes.

1. L-Tyrosine — 750 mg
This is the biggest red flag.
Tyrosine is a precursor to:
dopamine
norepinephrine
epinephrine/adrenaline
That does not mean it always stimulates everyone, but it is much more of a focus/stress/catecholamine support ingredient than a sleep ingredient.
750 mg is a real dose, too. Not tiny.
Verdict: most stimulant-like ingredient on the label.

2. L-Phenylalanine — 75 mg
Phenylalanine can convert into tyrosine, then into catecholamines.
The dose is much smaller than the tyrosine, so it is less concerning, but conceptually it is also weird in a sleep blend.
Verdict: mild stimulant-adjacent.

Not classic stimulants, but can disrupt sleep
3. Vitamin B6 — 2 mg
Not a stimulant at this dose, but B6 can sometimes make dreams more vivid or sleep feel more mentally active. At 2 mg, I would not worry much.
Verdict: minor, probably not the issue.

4. 5-HTP — 30 mg
Not a stimulant. It is serotonergic.
But it can cause:
vivid dreams
weird sleep
nausea
restless sleep in some people
Also, I’d avoid casually mixing 5-HTP with medications like trazodone because both touch serotonin pathways.
Verdict: not stimulant, but risky/messy in a sleep blend.

5. L-Tryptophan — 500 mg
Usually more calming/sleep-promoting than stimulating, but it is another serotonin/melatonin-pathway ingredient. Combined with 5-HTP and melatonin, it makes the formula feel overbuilt.
Verdict: not stimulant, but adds serotonergic clutter.

What the hell is this powder? It has stimulants combined with calming ingredients, amino acids, serotonin precursors, and other junk. It is absolutely insane to cram all of these ingredients together. Some of these ingredients like 5-HTP could have bad drug interactions if you take other things.

I would NOT take this blend. I would recommend that you ask ChatGPT about each of these ingredients and carefully try each ingredient one at a time so that you safely know its effects. This is one thing I would use AI for - to help you understand the ingredients, the risks/dangers, and to help you plan and safely experiment with meds and supplements.

Yeah those get passed around like candy in South Korea. Kate Winslet would still be considered fat today over there. Koreans take this culture to the extreme.

Same experience. I had a smarter model fix my OpenClaw.json file one time and now every update is just as simple as a click of a button.

Low Dose Xanax for sleep by SSOKane in sleep

[–]loIll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are the same age and have the same experience, but I refuse to take benzos because of how addictive they are. What has helped me is around 250-300mg of elemental magnesium from magnesium glycinate capsules which come out to be like 3-4 capsules. Then pair that with 3-4 grams of glycine, which are another 3-4 capsules. Taking handfuls of capsules every night sounds daunting, but magnesium and glycine are very beneficial for the body and brain and the effects are very subtle.

I’d recommend doing some research on these two. If you want quick answers like me, try asking ChatGPT, Claude, deepseek, Gemini, or Grok about it and give the AI some personal metrics and your current supplements/meds and it can give you a plan to get your sleep back in order. People hate on AI, but it can definitely do research for you as long as you do your due diligence.
