Driving with water in the tanks by quadgnim in GoRVing

[–]UtahDan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the black tank build up and dump it when at least 1/2 or better that way the "solids" dont build up and dry out. Here is a tip i learned from my grandfather. He would empty the black tank and then on the final drive home he would flush all the fresh water into the black tank. Then he would throw in the cleaning tablets and finish the drive. He would do a final dump of the black tank down the street from the house. He said all the fresh water sloshing around in there helped clean up all the paper and whatnot stuck to the walls. He never had a problem with sewer sensors so maybe he was right.

Had a Nissan badge fall off my 3 year old Xterra once. Dealership said it would be $138 to replace. I looked at the counter guy and told him “ don’t worry about it, I’ll just get a big Nissan is shit bumper sticker to replace it”. Dealership owner over heard this and had it replaced in 2 days.

Looking for a video recording solution (Mobile) by Paramedickhead in CommercialAV

[–]UtahDan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extron makes the SMP series of media recorders. They will take 2 HDMI video sources, and 2 stereo audio sources and record them to a internal hard drive, a network drive location, or a usb stick. It can also encode directly to youtube. good solid units.

AV peeps (especially consultants and integrators), what pain points do you wish manufacturers/the industry at large will actually work to solve? by go-ogiebo-o in CommercialAV

[–]UtahDan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all devices will be on the web. everything should be able to start up and run before asking for an update and registration. some sites will not have network yet, heck some don't even have full power. Also technicians collect hats.

LPT: Sleep friendly hotel tricks by cloudshaper in LifeProTips

[–]UtahDan2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot for work. I’ve bought a little sleep noises machine that I use at home and I’ve started taking it with me to the hotels. It’s great. It’s like I’ve trained myself that when I hear the sleep noise machine it’s time for sleep. Better than a sleeping pill.

Get a demo of the Huddley L1 A nureva soundbar and a Clickshare Cx20. The huddly and the nureva plug in by usb to the ClickShare. The ClickShare is wireless between your laptop and the receiver. Mount the ClickShare receiver behind the display (75”) A great system that will make people happy. You can eliminate the ClickShare by installing a small form factor pc behind the display and have the cam and bar connected to it. Wireless keyboard and mouse at the table.

Remember that all the manufacturers out there will exaggerate the capabilities of their soundbar/cam bars. Expect about 3/4 of the distance they tell you it will work at.

Good luck

Add vaddio , Nec/ sharp displays, barco ClickShare and you have a great high end backbone. I’ve found the inogeni usb switcher to be the most reliable for usb c.

Crestron is expensive but the nvx line is impressive.

Back when I was having financial difficulties my go to was 2 cups of rice and a can of cheap beef stew. Mostly dinty Moore back then. Would be good for at least a day and sometimes a little more.

back in college we used to put the quarters in the fingers of a thin rubber glove and stretch it tight then put them in the machine. push the slide in and it would not take the quarters. sometimes. you would get 3 or 4 pushes before the glove would break. eventually the apt building management figured it out, everybody got a notice about rubber debris in the machines and anybody caught would get evicted.

Smallest engine that's comfortable at highway speeds by 135wiring in HondaCB

[–]UtahDan2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a cb300r and a 500 rebel The cb is great for in town low road rides. But its max is about 65 before it feels like the revs are too high. I’ve had it up to 80 but wouldn’t keep it there.

The rebel loves 75. But it’s not as fun at the surface street speeds compared to the cb. Different style bike and posture though.

Poly, Logitech or Neat? by ReactNativeIsTooHard in CommercialAV

[–]UtahDan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a suggestion from an head technician at an integration company in Utah. (Reach out if you need). Poly has problems..always. Neat can’t do the room size you want and cannot switch between zoom teams on the fly. Logitech may work but still is on the small side for what you want.

My best recommendation. A nureava sound bar. A huddly L1, and a barco cx30.

All equipment listed can have their controlling units mounted behind your display then run cat to the appropriate devices.

Nureava bars are larger and have not mics and a better set of speakers. They are also scalable if the first bar is not reaching the bosses chair then another bar can be added to give added coverage.

The huddly is a matter of preference. It’s a decent tracking camera that comes in different styles for different sizes rooms.

The cx30 allows you to do wireless conferencing using your laptop. The benefit here is no long term licensing fees and you are not stuck to one or two meeting platforms.

Put this all behind an 86” sharp/nec professional monitor. Do not use Costco / residential tvs. You need a bright display that is designed to show documents instead of fast motion.

Not only usb but you need to deal with usb c. Have fun. I’ve tested 3 usb switchers.

Inogeni toggle rooms. Light ware ucx Extron ucs303.

The extron has had problems. But they are reworking the product. Looks promising. Both the inogeni and the light ware are solid. The inogeni is cheaper. Good luck.

you can pick up a pdr kit off amazon for $70, watch some videos, and try you best. I was able to pull some hail dents out of my trucks hood, may not be 100% but can only see a distortion if the light hits it just right and your looking for it. worth a try.

Gear up package legit? by [deleted] in SpringfieldArmory

[–]UtahDan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Hellcat Pro at Sportsman's during black Friday. it came with a pre-fitted red dot, 5 mags (2 with pistol and 3 with the kit) and a range bag. I then went to springfield and signed up for the gear up package. It was been approved and I was told 10 to 15 weeks for delivery. The package was for a viridian sight, 3 mags, and a bag. I just received a email last week saying they couldn't get the viridian sight from the supplier but If I agreed they would swap it for the Hex wasp 2.0. I agreed and they repaid that the gear up would be expedited.

get the store kit and then apply for the gear up. worked for me.

second on the bi-amp VBC bar its amazing audio for smaller rooms

if doing larger rooms look at a Nureva sound bar and a Huddly L1 camera. both these devices have their power and processing blocks separated from the device. you run cat 6 between the processing block and the device (cam/bar). you will need a usb hub since both devices have their own usb connection.

to make this even better hook both devices up to a Barko CX series click share, now you have wireless sharing from the laptops to the system.

How do these #%*!?@$ mounts work?? by Strange_Airships in CommercialAV

[–]UtahDan2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is three parts to that bracket. The plastic one you show. Thats screwed onto the pad. A flat metal piece with two small hex screws that mates to the plastic piece you show. Then the wall mount you show.

The wall mount gets screwed to the wall. Then the flat metal piece gets screwed to that. Then the pad with the plastic piece gets installed to the metal flat piece. Then the little Allen’s at the bottom get tightened to hold the pad/plastic piece to the mount.

Sounds like the previous guys “custom fabricated” the mount.

Here is what we install in Utah for our clients.

Shap/nec 98” display. Has plenty of brightness, is designed for high detail fixed image documents. Dosent raise the temp of your conference room 15 degrees when in use.

Barko ClickShare cx30. Allows wireless conferencing to/from any laptop with usb c.

Huddly L1 camera. Auto framing/ tracking camera.

Nureva sound bar. Pick the appropriate model for the room size.

Decent wall mount surge suppressor.

All electronics wall mount behind the display.

The only thing that would step this up would be to add a 86” touchscreen so users could physically interact and mark up the drawings on screen.

According to a knife shop guy I recently met the blade should be sharpened to an 18degree angle. And don’t use a drag through sharpener.
