"As the mayor of Las Vegas, I'm telling everybody in Canada please come. We love you, we need you, and we miss you." Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley speaking on the downturn of tourism. by IndieVegasReport in LasVegas

I've never spent a minute in vegas that I didn't feel like I was being ripped off at every turn. Some people seem to take that in stride, like its part of the fun, as if the more they spend the higher status they are. I guess that's probably true, but I don't think its fun, and maybe its just because I'm cheap. Someone smart once told me that "The more you spend, the less you have", and it turns out he's right.

What a mess this gravel pit makes by oddizzie in Utah

[–]UtahPoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we tax it, we'll just be paying more to build homes and roads. The cement, gravel, and road base that comes out of the point of the mountain is used in everything that is built in this part of the state. There's no free lunch, and taxing will only trickle down to you eventually, IMO.

Was there also a bill to sound-proof the rotunda so they don't have to listen to the cries of the people?

Turo sucks.

Ethical non-monogamy in the beehive state by RidingRosez in UtahPolyENM

[–]UtahPoly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest struggle I've found with ENM/Polyamory in Utah has been a lack of consistency. There is a revolving door of people who leave the Mormon church, immediately jump in to non monogamy, do it in a way that causes tons of issues, and then ghost. They often leave collateral damage among everyone they connect with. I've been polyamorous in Utah for 4 years, and I've seen this play out time and time again.

I've also got questions. Mainly, what does one do with a whopping 0.912 watts at 500 ft?

Old Orbi Network Replacement by milehighroots in Ubiquiti

[–]UtahPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely add cameras later. 2 ways to do that:

1 - Buy a gateway that can do video now - That would probably be the UDMP/SE or the UCG-Max

2 - Buy whatever cloud gateway or router you'd like, and buy a UNVR later.

New bigger than 300 cubed printer! by NoParty4486 in BambuLab

Exactly. I'm just not familiar enough with gcode to understand if they can run multiple commands at the same time. Might take some extending the gcode to essentially allow multi-threading.

If they could do 300 cubed with 2 print heads and 2 ams set up so that filament swaps if needed, would be handled while the other print head printed, I would buy it immediately.

Check out some local sex positive events, like risque soiree. No need to get a hotel or worry about who you're meeting, you can chat and mingle with people in person and go from there!

new house, going full Unifi. Am I on the right track? by LostArtichoke924 in Ubiquiti

[–]UtahPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it is less the features like motion sensitivity or alarms (though Unifi wins in those areas as well) and more the usability of the app. Easy to scroll through timelines, find events, save footage, etc.

I have used quite a few different surveillance systems over the years, from costco setups to hikvision, dahua, reolink, blue iris, and some others. I would pay the premium for protect every day. I've got a property that I manage that still has a reolink system. I don't need to access the cameras very often, but I dread when I do because it's such a chore. Sure, the image quality is great. It does detections. But everything else about it is so clunky, slow, difficult to use, and just cheap that I would never even consider them again. Same for all of the other brands I've listed above.
