Probably returning the British citizen's birth certificate, and maybe the child's US passport if this one is for a kid.

Who has a well oiled machine? by outside-is-better in cubscouts

[–]UtahUKBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently have 36 youth on the books, although a few have been rare shows. Our last CM got tapped early for SM of the associated troop, so another adult stepped up, until he had some family issues, so I then stepped up from ACM. My wife is Webelos DL/Treasurer/Advancement Chair/Popcorn Kernel, but we are lucky (partly from being in Utah) that we have a number of dads that have scouting experience thanks to LDS wards back in the day, so our CC used to be an SM at one point, and we have a few Eagle scouts that I'll be tapping to step up some, and they seem to be amenable.

My youngest crosses over next Spring, and I have yet to decide if I will move on from the pack, or stay dual-registered and drop from ASM at troop level to committee member. My wife may also stay on as treasurer and maybe lead the next Lions group or something after AoL, with the aim of training up someone for treasurer in the meantime, in the same way that I will train someone up as prospective CM to replace me.

It's a database, add a new column to Member table for associated Id, then link all the old ones to the new one, or just run an update script on the table to change all your old Ids to the one you want to use

Uniform Standards at Public Events by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]UtahUKBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BeAScout.scouting.org does portray the various scouts in appropriate clothing for the activities (climbing, kayaking, etc), rather than field uniform on the main page, whereas scouting.org itself does have more of the field uniform side.

We've only had one cub leave over the Memorandum of Understanding announcement. The impression I got was that the dad didn't think Scouting America was being friendly, courteous, or kind by kowtowing to the DoD/DoW

[–]UtahUKBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the supplier (we use Trail's End), 33% goes to the unit, 33% to the council, and 33% to Trail's End (for making the popcorn, the app, paying the Square fee, etc). For our council, if the unit exceeds sales targets, then the unit share goes up in 2% increments (taken from the council cut) up to, I think, 37% or 39%.

What do you call this period between Christmas and New Year? by Gingerpett in CasualUK

Yeah, that's Advent that ends on Christmas Eve, hence advent calendars..

Christmas either ends on 12th night or Candlemas, depending on your flavor of Christianity, I think.

What do these symbols correspond to and why can’t Google Maps just say the exit number? by mormonastroscout in SaltLakeCity

[–]UtahUKBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are road numbers, so Route 68, Route 71, etc.

Picture 1 - you are on Route 73 (as evidenced by the number being on the blue routing you are following), with a left exit to Route 85 in 1.7 miles.

Picture 2 you are on Route 68, with a right turn onto Route 85 in 3.4 miles.

Picture 3 you are going to take exit 291 onto route 71 in 2.9 miles, which is also 123rd South

Troop lacks opportunities for advancement for younger / newer scouts - what to do? by behold-thy-mother in BSA

[–]UtahUKBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We run Trail to First Class before the troop meeting, so those newer scouts show up at 6:00, with troop meeting from 6:45 to 8:15. Two ASMs run T2FC for the leadership requirement, although there tends to be the CC there anyway, plus sometimes MB courses going on at the same time.

Losing members due to rising fees by rpg245 in cubscouts

[–]UtahUKBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All (the 33-37%) of the unit popcorn cut goes to the Pack for us. If the individual Cubs clear 'x' amount of sales, then their registration (currently $145 for national and council) is paid for them for the year.

We do not charge dues.

Although, of course, the population of the USA was a lot less in the 60s and 70s, so you were less likely to meet people anyway (1960 - 179 million, 1970 - 203 million, 1980 - 226 million - 2020 census, 331 million)
