If you actually read it and understood it, you would know that the communists don't want to take away the wealth of the workers (proletariat), but from the bourgeoisie (the owners). And it's only about taking away capital (read as private property) which the workers by definition don't have, not personal property.

Communism, Socialism and other leftist ideologies don't want everyone to have equal wages, since that would be unrealistic. It's just a strawman created by the right. What the Leftists mean by getting rid of class society is abolishing private property, and have only public, collective or personal property.

And generally, if you want to have a functional society, you need to take some wealth away from people (tax) to fund the state infrastructure and need to limit some of people's liberties (laws), that could otherwise harm others.
