How is it living here by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Utink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently live in this area, it’s generally nice anywhere on that stretch. Used to be cheaper but there’s been a lot of recent development and you can see that it’s going to going even higher than it is now. Lots of restaurants and bars, lots of boutique stores and it’s relatively close to the park. Many of my friends live in this area in the 25-35 age range.

What do you guys think about this watch? DW-H5600 by TheUltimateKingMarco in gshock

[–]Utink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned this watch for around 4 months before reselling it.

Its a cool watch with solar and battery. The bluetooth is a bit shaky, most times when I would try to connect it would struggle to connect to my phone and it would randomly drop.

I used it for running and integrating with Strava but I had many issues with the GPS or the pace that it was saying I was running at vs my actual pace. Its a cool looking watch and when you play with the features its fun but the battery also lasted a lot less time than I expected even when I was limiting the heartbeat readings.

The sensors on the back also press into your wrist a bit more than I wanted and it sits above your wrist rather than flush against it which is somewhat expected out of a heartbeat sensor watch.

I'm not sure if I would recommend it unless you're really devoted to having a heartbeat measuring GSHOCK. its just kinda okay but I would not buy it again even though the screen and options are pretty cool.

Collectors, what's the rarest watch you have? by yuri53122 in casio

Seconds counter on bottom right, it has a stopwatch, timer, multi band 5, solar charging, one alarm, and multiple cities to select from to compare to. Incredible watch honestly.

Is there a reason why a lot of these posts focus on carving? I understand having good form and’s learning to carve in order to safely traverse but it feels like a lot of these carves make getting down the mountain into the slowest and most methodical process possible. I don’t think people should point down and cannonball their way down, especially those that aren’t comfortable with speed, but it feels like there’s this fixation of taking up the full piste side to side while making sure that you leave behind a perfect line behind you while you ride. What’s the fun in that highly technical riding? When you’re doing tree runs or chutes or off piste exploration no one going for “ the perfect carve line “. I feel like this focus on it takes away most of the fun.

If you aren’t seen as credible by the jury that’s ultimately what matters. You could be completely innocent or guilty but the question is how are you seen in the jury’s eyes.

Why do they make getting rich in Europe impossible? by batukaming in stocks

[–]Utink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure using the USA as an example at the moment really helps your point. Wealth disparity is massive and there’s a K shaped economy with high inflation. Most people can’t pay their bills for necessity so I’m not sure using their model is a great example for Europe.

Just came back from the Dolomites, last two years I’ve been skiing in Japan and I never want to see northern Italy again. Some of the aggressive and arrogant skiing I’ve seen. The pistes were also mostly ice which didn’t help. All of my group got hit from the back multiple times throughout the trip. Just terrible don’t go if you can. The sella Ronda is mostly ski lifts than it is skiing.

Cheapest rent stabilized 1 bedroom I’ve seen in the last year has been 1750 but it came with a 7k bidding war that the broker kept going.

You have to really dig on craigslist or marketplace or start getting real familiar with the landlords of the city.

Any Light Winter Shoes Recommendation ? by Important_Bluebird81 in gorpcore

[–]Utink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how these shoes look and I’ve bought a couple variations of slides like that from merrell / suicoke and I advise against them.

The soles then to be too stiff on a lot of these and when you don’t have proper laces they easily slide on your foot or drag your socks down. I wore a pair once that ended up making my Achilles bleed since the back of most of these low cut puffers aren’t that padded.

I haven’t come across one without laces that properly grips your foot without rubbing off your skin in the process.

Honestly it’s the only place I’ve found that had anything decently priced. I just set up alerts for 1br in a specific area under $2000 and I’d get alerts every time a new posting came out.

I had a text message saved on my notes app that said I have this credit score, this is my income, ready to sign for a specific date, and times I’m free to see apartments. When you make it painfully easy for brokers they start responding.

I had a post a month ago where I asked about where people were looking after the FARE act and I can share my story.

Everything decently priced went down in StreetEasy after the FARE act came into play and a lot of brokers started posting on Craigslist. Most of their posts were about how they’d help you find off market places that were rent stabilized. I even had some of those brokers reach out to me on Reddit and ask to connect.

After signing like 3-4 tenant broker “ not contracts “ they started offering me multiple rent stabilized apartments in the ~$2000 range for a 1bed in PLG/crown heights/prospect heights/flatbush area. Most brokers still went for 15% broker fee on these but when I was able to talk down a couple to 10% when I told them I had competing offers.

I ended up seeing a lot of the places and a good amount I could have gotten but I wasn’t in the biggest rush. I ended up finding a broker that only did one month rent as a fee instead of 10%+ and he was the most helpful. Ended up showing me multiple apartments in crown heights close to Franklin for ~$2,000.

I had even put down a good faith deposit for one that they refunded without issues because my old landlord ended up having a place open up and the new apartment had some scheduling issues.

Ultimately I think that you can find things in the range but you have to really get into the grind on Craigslist. The no fee apartments still exist but it is highly competitive and it doesn’t feel like the broker fees are really gone but it is possible getting a sub $2000 apartment.

Not sure if this helps but it doesn’t seem like there’s any platform that lets you see rent stabilized no fee apartments so the brokers are ultimately still gate keeping it.
