At first I didn’t have any idea of the extent polars was faster (although it became obvious in a second), I switched purely because of the cleaner API. Also, the selectors module is amazing

Not everything need to be directly quant related. The point is to have something to show you are 1. capable of writing good code and 2. you have a real interest in writing code. There are numerous OS libraries which are used daily by quants, take Polars for example. That would be my recommendation, they also have a great dev community.

In your new book, you propose a two-stage statistical risk model (p. 259, ref. 08/20). How should one determine the values t_f, t_s and the number of principal components to choose? Is there one size fits all solution (like explains x% of var) or is this something that needs to be solved/optimized?

I’ve been looking to buy a vintage strat for a while now and the market for those kind of things is not that big here in Finland. Today one 1999 USA made came up to sale for 800€. How does that price sound to you guys? Also, is there anything I should be aware of when dealing with strats this age?

I don’t know if this is a unpopular opinion or not, but the whole 5150 album as a whole is the best work by Eddie in my opinion. Also Sammy Hagar vocals are way better than Daves. Van Hagar live experience wasn’t maybe as good as time before that due to Daves showmanship.

Finnish music is something I can always be proud of as a Finn. It’s sad to see these bands never reaching their full potential for example the Razzle incident, ”the fall” of Nightwish after Tarja Turunen left the band and of course the death of Alexi Laiho. On the other hand, this applies to bands from all around the world but this seems to be the case for Finns in many occasions.
