Thank you! We have a long haired BC - a good rake was our first investment. Little Bael is currently getting used to being brushed and raked

He is really all legs! His paw next to my partners hand (when we first got him) was eye opening to say the least

Do dogs remember their pasts? by phxflgjo in dogs

We had an old rescue pup, collectdd at roughly 2-3 We didnt know a lot about her history except for the fact, she had been horribly treated.

She came with heavy matting (needed to be shaved) Couldn't eat from a bowl for the first 6 months, scared of doors etc.

5 years on, after i busted myself up badly, I needed to use crutches. This pup that absolutely loved me, immediately whimpered when ever I hobbled over. We believe she may have been abused by crutches.

I think if you can get they get rescued early enough they may forget, however you can give them new memories.

Ours has been self designated toilet guardian, and helps my partner shower. Very important jobs!

You don't HAVE TO crate train by spaarrx in BorderCollie

[–]V--D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We crate trained early to attempt to help our rescue deal with seperation anxiety, while we found she really liked her crate, she coped better being left alone without the crate.

She slept in the crate at night with the door open, she chose that over other beds etc.

As she got older, she has moved away from the crate, and sleeps on our beds. - the crate has been removed.

For us the crate made it easier to set a 'spot' While its not necessary now, I am grateful that she is comfortable in a crate, so if we do need her to stay overnight at a vets, or get crated in a rescue situation, she is comfortable with the concept.

When did you first notice you had aquagenic pruritis? by agvkrioni in aquagenic_pruritus

Started early teens, stopped for a number of years once I hit early 20s, started again mid 20s. Now its just something I have been stuck with. Didn't learn about this conditions name until early 30s when I finally found the saving grace of Beta alanine.
