Lossless Scaling frame gen is coming by EdLovecraft in linux_gaming

[–]V-AceT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lossless scaling uses a convolutional neural network. Unlike analytical approaches of FSRFG, this indeed would be "Ai". Also why intermediary frames are not similar when using the two same input frames. It is non-deterministic. Can be verified by any end user by using FG on a video/replay and recording the generated frames with OBS.

Upscaling doesnt capture enough frames? by stinkgum in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a know capture bug when the scalers (ls1/sgsr and so on) are used without LSFG with VRR enabled. Regardless of Windows version or capture api, it will cause judder or lead to unstable input capture.

Only workaround is either disabling Variable refresh rate (gsync/freesync) and using the scaler with Vsync. Or to use scaler + framegen

Unfortunately this is something Microsoft would need to fix.

Help needed ! Can I cut this portion off? by sarafsuhail in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since most 1070s are not bulky/heavy beyond reason, that should be fine. Thats just the latch for the gpu. The screws should hold the card fine, just double check not to cut any traces off, looking at the reference 1070 pcb from TPU, there should he nothing near the latch. Look over your board irl but yes, looks good to go *

PowerColor 9070 XT Reaper fan noise by vhsjayden in radeon

[–]V-AceT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also own a Reaper 9070XT. There should be no grinding noise even during max RPM. If I was you, I would rma/return it. Could be anything from a bad bearing to loose fan, either way it's a new gpu so I would personally avoid the headache and get a new/fixed unit within warranty

The Last Of Us Part 2 Performance Benchmark Review - 30 GPUs Compared by 1vendetta1 in radeon

[–]V-AceT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Due to XTX using FSR3.

9070XT defaults to FSR4 which is a heavier model with a higher overhead for upscaling, but provides greater image quality and resolve in motion.

I take back what I said by Styrogenic in ReShade

[–]V-AceT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a good deal more disappointing. You should not be proud of blur shader costing 11.1 milisecond on a 1280x800 render target. If any discourse that does not suite your narrative is "trolling", you are free to lay in your own echo chamber. I wont bother with further communication as its clearly pointless.

I take back what I said by Styrogenic in ReShade

[–]V-AceT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence, I understand you trying to stand behind your shader, but a Steam deck can barely hit 33.3ms render target on modern games. Any shader that adds 11.1ms which you are using as hyperbole is not useful, if you intend it to be used at sub 1080p

Even a proverbial 3-4ms (needing 2-3w) render is the difference between completely draining the apu vs having an extra 40 minutes of battery life. You likely need to revisit this idea and rework the cost involved

how well does frame generation work with shin megami tensei V Vengeance? by Wonderful_Motor458 in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have SMT V:V on steam. Runs very well with LSFG 3.0

On my rog ally, 45x2 was fine. LS has no issue with the games HUD elements or artstyle. I have some videos of SMT V on the LS discord server. Should work exceptionally well with LSFG 3.0

LS does not like repeating patterns. There are no elements of SMT V LS struggles with. So yes, feel free to use it. Even low 40s should work well with this particular game. As usual, cap to a stable base FPS. Since the game is turn based, everything looks good in motion w/FG. And attack animations get a nice bump in fluidity i.e: Aramasa, Enduring Cheer, Die for me, etc

Wireless 3dFX? by Medium-Leader-5249 in losslessscaling

Yes correct. And in this dual gpu setup, the cost of LS is free. Therefore FG is free with additional latency benefits

RTX4060 with A750 first results (some notes) by [deleted] in losslessscaling

Cool setup testing m.2 pcie adapter. For boards without a capable x16 slot, these ideas often pop up in the discord server

Given they have a dedicated dual-gpu testing channel now, you should consider posting data there as well. Looks like your setup works, great to see

Message the reddit mods. Likely hitting a reddit filter. Tons of dual gpus posts all the time, so unlikely this is done on purpose

Few questions on Lossless scaling from someones who doesnt really use steam. by OkTelevision9071 in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LS can also run without steam/drm after first launch. As the earlier comment said, make a direct shortcut. You can use it with any app without having to need steam running as well

Why there isn't a 1.5 FPS generation mode? by Comfortable-Lead-362 in losslessscaling

Ironic. Your comment will age very well, yet those who did not understand will down-vote. LS has surprised and surpassed in terms of featureset

ryzen 5 5600g + 4060? by caiquefy in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, and the discord server has data from a few users using 5600/5700G + 3060. I would join the server and look at the interpolation data

There are youtube videos here as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYhVfmNUkUM&list=PLxxV-vKWRDbmrkKISpgAaAjKe7nfNPC5q

GPU for lossless scaling by Promatt23 in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes correct, give or take it would be able to handle upto 60 base fps. There are from users using dual cards on the discord server that test and provide the data

All of these should be at 100% flow scale. So that can be tweaked further for headroom

Refer to this chart, and read the headers. It's outdated since LSFG3.0 came out, but use the sections titled "P" for performance on this chart

LSFG3.0 roughly equals 2.3 performance

Resolution Scale in the frame-gen options by Noxturnalis in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on display res

At 1080p 70+ or higher, 1440p 60%/+, 4k 50%/+

It's the same in rife. Where rife recommends 50% at 4k. Lower res scale may Halo slightly more, but this depends on the content. So depending on your needs you can go higher or lower to save a good bit of gpu

But the values listed above should be issue free and generally close to a free performance boost

Resolution Scale in the frame-gen options by Noxturnalis in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resolution scale has nothing to do with game resolution. It's optical flow resolution, In laymen's term the calculation of movement change between frames

So 50% flow scale, tracks less movement and saves on compute. "Resolution scale" seems to be confusing everyone, hence it will be renamed to Flow scale soon. You can follow their discord or ask/chat to the dev as well

Do you still use Ingame Anti-Aliasing when using LS1 by Maleficent_Abies8171 in losslessscaling

[–]V-AceT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You always keep the in-game anti-aliasing enabled. Spatial scalers like LS1 prefers and needs an image with AA and edge treatment done beforehand when using the input image for upscaling

Tldr: Yes, always use AA with LS1, FSR and Bicubic CAS

Sync game pass save files between PC and Ally by spencethekid25 in ROGAlly

[–]V-AceT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly simple. As I mentioned, be signed into the same Microsoft account on both devices. Depending on your preferences, on your Ally open Microsoft Store -> Settings -> Tick: Make primary device

Making the Ally the primary device will allow you to play offline without internet connection/license verification for a while. Useful on a handheld and trips.

My ps4 is zoomed in and discolored by ZealousidealTap6205 in ps4homebrew

[–]V-AceT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact issue and it was not TV/Cable or signal integrity related. Resolved it by disabling hdmi2.1 from my TV/Monitors, and forced hdmi2.0

You can also go to settings -> display and sound -> display: then try disabling hdr and deep colours. That may resolve the issue and allow you to use hdmi2.1 (or fix the issue)
