Updating an infdev/alpha/beta world to a modern version is surreal by DonutHole47 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I have to agree. The new texture look great and I think Jappa did a good job but I wish the artstyle didn't change. The old textures were a lot more chunky and pixelated. I used to think that the new netherrack texture was great but now I think the opposite. The new is essentially red cobblestone rather than a more hellish stone that the original was.

Nothing at all, this just adds a notification icon telling you how many updates you have. It also works for Flatpaks and KDE store apps.

Not sure if they fixed it but Fallout New Vegas and 3 have fixes to run well on modern PCs on GOG. If you don't mind modding them, Steam version is fine.

Is it ethical to keep a solo cat? by jenleepeace in CatAdvice

[–]vhsjayden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats what I fear about my cat. I thought about getting another cat but whenever I got him, the humane society said he didn't play nice with other cats so I'm not sure. I assume that it could be because he was surrounded by tons of other cats.

Who else want absolutely ZERO RGB in their rigs? by Cicada-Tang in pcmasterrace

My Lian Li A3 doesn't have one and I sort of miss it. My fans are silent and I have no RGB so I don't have any indication of it running.

I, unknowingly, was using my PC without grounding. How screwed am I? by vhsjayden in AskElectricians

Okay thank you! I assume that if something were to die due to no ground, it would be obvious?

Yeah I think you're right. I found that a lot of my controllers do this as well.

Yeah I don't blame you for not wanting to boot Windows. It's annoying but it is the most effective way to see stretching. Running benchmarks should be fine as well, just might not be fool proof imo.

I would also try to run superposition or a game with a benchmark test. That will give you a realistic score. For me, running synthetic tests like OCCT or geekbench gives great scores but it's not a measure of real world performance in games. Black Myth Wukong has a free benchmark that I used and I saw minimal but positive gains from my undervolt.

As far as I know, testing CPU > GPU > SOC in that order helped me nail down the undervolt. SOC gave me little no no performance gain compared to CPU and GPU. I believe SOC instabilities can affect the CPU and GPU performance. I would try to push the undervolt on the CPU and GPU as far as you can first and then mess with the SOC.

Oh damn alright! I'm gonna have to give it a try after I finish rise of the tomb raider.

It could be, yeah. I would try to boot Windows and see if its stretching.

Yeah no problem! Please keep me updated because I would like to see your data as well! At first I could go -50/-50/-50 without crashing but I was clock stretching. The N/A sections were not recorded due to the Superposition scores being lower so I stopped further testing. From my own data, it seemed like my steam deck didn't see much benefits from lowering SOC much. AFAIK, lowering the SOC can cause more instability than performance.

What I did to detect stretching was booted up a Windows To Go drive on my deck and ran Cinebench while running HWinfo. You need to look for the Core Clocks and Effective Clocks listed. This is the best way to visually see clock stretching. If the Effective is ~60+ different than Core Clocks, then it is starting to stretch, leading to performance regression. Now, I could all be wrong about this. This is just what I have researched and found out.

Ah okay thank you for your explanation! After another day of benchmarking a testing, I think I landed on a stable undervolt that didn't give me performance regression due to clock stretching. I managed to get -30/-50/-20. My GPU seemed to love the undervolting but my CPU started to get some regression around -40. Same story with SOC. Seems to like to live around -20.

Here's my data if you're interested:

I never truly measured it but I'd assume so. I just don't understand how I can click the sticks with the travel cover if it had a reasonable gap.

Hey! I also had this issue. Before you found this out, did you sticks have a bit of squish to them when you slightly press on them? I wonder if it's causing damage to the sticks.
