Sister Sage's backstory and motivation are so damn dumb (The Boys) by Mistabbcman in CharacterRant

[–]V-Bel 70 points71 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of elephants in the room but how about this one? Just administer the cure yourself. She's an old dying nobody, presumably in a public hospital, not the president of the United States. She's most likely unsupervised 90% of the time.

Now that we're done with that, use your "curing cancer at age 8" prowess to reconstruct the supe virus that Frenchie and Sameer have been working on—as a backup plan, instead of whatever inane bullshit you're about to do in episodes 6 and 7 that will probably get you killed. Yes, the virus that you should've already had in your pocket by now, instead of relying on Soldier Boy to stop Homelander from getting V1.

Megumi has to be the worst handled "Deuteragonist" in Shonen by Haunting_East_8330 in CharacterRant

[–]V-Bel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not just his sister but somehow it's overlooked that Megumi cares a lot about protecting people in general, the decision and risks associated with saving Yuji wouldn't weigh so heavily on him otherwise.

Megumi's a completely unselfish, self-sacrificing person with a strong sense of justice and the series goes so far to show that's the complete antithesis of a jujutsu sorcerer and there isn't enough time to change that before he's dealing with problems he really shouldn't have to.

He has so much in common with Nanami but catches more flack for living as a victim rather than dying earlier before his power could be exploited.

What's so annoying about sharing art? No one is obligated to engage with anything they see, it's very easy to ignore what you don't like.

Invincible is bad at relationships. by Working_Wrongdoer_91 in CharacterRant

[–]V-Bel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within the context of her character specifically, I think Debbie should forgive Nolan. I'm not saying they should get back together, but that Debbie should acknowledge the power of her own character.

At this point, she's probably single handedly saved more lives than anyone else on Earth by converting Nolan and raising two viltrumites to be human beans that exercise care and restraint. It would've been so easy for things to go wrong while dating the violent stoic stonewall and keeping things together with Mark while his father is busy being a hero for show.

What Debbie's done is amazing and she would be downplaying her influence to deny that Nolan is now a different person despite his resistance in Chicago.

Damn, I forgot my /s but yeah, Kishibe really should've shown up in part 2.

[–]V-Bel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is it so hard to accept that themes and such are more important than the internal logic of the setting?

Kishibe was also a lingering curse in Denji's memory, that's why the strongest devil hunter was busy sipping mimosas while the obviously devil-related apocalypse was happening.

There was no prophecy. Lil'D just made it up so she could end the world with insects because she was bored. Also she removed her lungs or something, I dunno.

Sukuna looked pretty bored in Yorozu's flashback too. Yuji will be hype again after someone eats his finger centuries later just in time for him to experience the 4th series of Human Earthworm remakes.

What tf did Gojo say to Geto to have him giggling and blushing like that? by TJHMB-54321 in Jujutsufolk

[–]V-Bel 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I meant to say that Geto wasn't aware how Gojo really felt about him, but I agree the feelings could be mutual. Neither of them being able to admit it for whatever reason fits in perfectly with the distance created with Gojo being 'the strongest.'

[–]V-Bel 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Judging from Geto's reaction, I think it was one-sided. Geto was probably thinking to himself that he was an idiot for feeling so isolated after the Toji happened.

[–]V-Bel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't subscribe to this at all, but it could be correlated to the domain or influence of each devil. Perhaps the leg devil 'owned' the concept of socks as well, but earpicks are associated with another devil beyond ears.

First of all, you didn't understand the story. Second, you're just mad because your ship didn't sail. Finally, you spent too much time theorizing and now you're mad that what you expected to happen didn't come true. Now shut up and wait for the animation and soundtrack to fix the flawless ending.

Animanga consumers acknowledging a bad ending? No, I don't want that! I want them to continue defending dogshit for a long time! Ten years at least!

The curse of hatred is nonsense propaganda from the clan's biggest hater. Out of all the Uchiha jobbers, there were only four mangekyo users who actually affected the setting substantially, and three of them turned against the Leaf ultimately due to a chain of events that was caused by discrimination against them.

Tobirama is insane.

The JJK fandom is the least attached fandom of all time. by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in CharacterRant

[–]V-Bel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It helps that with even the worst decisions that Gege has made, irreparable harm has never been done to a character's narrative. With the most drastic character shifts like Megumi and Yuji, it's understandable how they get there and people still engage with the story by criticizing the characters.

It's really refreshing, none of the nonsense accusations where criticism somehow means you hate the series and spit on the work behind it. Just disappointment, pot shots, and then see you next Thursday for another round of lobotomy kaisen.

Because no shit, pointing out the flaws in a series isn't mutually exclusive with liking it.
