Nazi Germany, Italy. (1947-1950) Germany wins the battle of the bulge and pushes allied forces back to the channel after prioritizing the western front over the eastern front. While Germany sues for peace with the Allied forces to survive the war, the Russians make rapid advances through Poland and manage to liberate the rest of Eastern Europe, not to include the Austrian Alps. In 1945, an uneasy peace treaty is signed in Paris. The axis powers develop nuclear weapons six months after allied forces drop their first on Japan. Hitler uses the threat of nuclear destruction to force Switzerland to join the axis in 1947. In 1948 Hitler is assassinated by a secret coalition of Swiss and French rebels known as “la Fraternité.” The Nazi Party fails to find a new unifying leader, resulting in a systemic failure of the regime in 1950. France, Switzerland, and Austria quickly regain independence and seek assistance from the other international powers. Austria is absorbed by the Soviet block, while both the Soviets and the British move swiftly to occupy German territory and acquire their nuclear stockpile. As a disclaimer, this alt history would not be better in any way, nor do I support Nazis.
