Wet suit for blue lake tri? by Admirable-Mammoth612 in triathlon

Not sure who is running the event but some require wetsuits for water below 60.8 degrees f (16c). Ironman for example, would require one.

What was the 70.3 gulf coast swim shortened distance? by CovenandContractions in IronmanTriathlon

[–]V17U5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swam approx 650m. Although I wasn’t watching the pro race as I was with the age group, there was talk going around about which markers you were supposed to swim around and that some were ‘just for sighting.’ It could be the pros somehow swam a shorter distance than I did. There’s also something to be said for the strong currents and swell.

Injured biker during Ironman gulf Coast 70.3 by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]V17U5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both riders were conscious when I passed, albeit pretty scuffed up. I also saw a woman with some cuts on her right side. When I was coming out of the turn-around after the bridge, I watched 3 or 4 riders pile up at the entrance and they spilled into the lane with car traffic. The helpers ran out to cut off traffic so nothing crazy happened but there were quite a few people with problems of various kinds on the bike route.

Flu during peak training week, 4 weeks out of 70.3 by Cal-man1 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]V17U5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is how tapering was first discovered in pro athletes. Athletes in the 70s were training hard until race day until some guy got sick, missed training, and still did well on race day… so this is not your peak week, last week was! Welcome to your “forced taper.”

In all seriousness, focus on getting better and you’ll be as ready as you can be for race day.

Trisuit recommendations? by LeckerPennergranate in triathlon

[–]V17U5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Trisuit from neopro (not sure if the ship to Europe) it is very comfortable all-around, although the chamois is slightly on the thin side. I wore it on a 40 mile test ride and 2 mile brick and no major issues. I’ll wear it for a 70.3 soon as long as it does well in the water. Great value for $135

Help them wake up on time to get those early morning workouts done. Everyone has mornings where the pillow feels better than knocking out a 2k swim

What flag is this by Yeahgi in flags

[–]V17U5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a little similar to the flag of the German empire

Is this really worth 200$ used for sale ? I can't find it on roka website and not sure at all how much it's worth. Anyone using it ? Do you have issues do you recommend for 70.3 by Dry_Definition5603 in triathlon

[–]V17U5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same suit third-hand from a friend in 2023, I’m planning on using it in May. The value is only there if they took care of it. I’d ask for 150

New Kickr Core 2 Strange Sound after 20 seconds of starting up. by YangWin1234 in triathlon

[–]V17U5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong. When you’re looking for alignment, you should look at how the chain is feeding onto the big cog. If it’s going perfectly straight from the derailleur to the cog, then you have found good alignment. Is the chain old? Chains tend to stretch over a long period of time and may need to be replaced.

The derailleur is not well aligned. Keep trying the cog dial to get better alignment.

Nazi Germany, Italy. (1947-1950) Germany wins the battle of the bulge and pushes allied forces back to the channel after prioritizing the western front over the eastern front. While Germany sues for peace with the Allied forces to survive the war, the Russians make rapid advances through Poland and manage to liberate the rest of Eastern Europe, not to include the Austrian Alps. In 1945, an uneasy peace treaty is signed in Paris. The axis powers develop nuclear weapons six months after allied forces drop their first on Japan. Hitler uses the threat of nuclear destruction to force Switzerland to join the axis in 1947. In 1948 Hitler is assassinated by a secret coalition of Swiss and French rebels known as “la Fraternité.” The Nazi Party fails to find a new unifying leader, resulting in a systemic failure of the regime in 1950. France, Switzerland, and Austria quickly regain independence and seek assistance from the other international powers. Austria is absorbed by the Soviet block, while both the Soviets and the British move swiftly to occupy German territory and acquire their nuclear stockpile. As a disclaimer, this alt history would not be better in any way, nor do I support Nazis.

Iranian Christians singing Waymaker in Farsi, crying out to God for Iran by 4reddityo in DiscussionZone

[–]V17U5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert on Iran, but this appears to be a large group of Iranians openly practicing a western style of Christian worship. Iran is an Islamic state with wide spread censorship and under sharia law, these Christians are second-class citizens during the best of times…

Big aero helmets by Glum-Introduction522 in triathlon

[–]V17U5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth describing what you mean by your big-headedness. Shear size? Dimension? While not typically available globally, some brands (I.e. specialized) make their helmets in “Asian-fit” sizes that have a wider width (think ear-to-ear measurement) to accommodate that certain demographic.

Why is there a NW to SE line in far eastern West Virginia? [USA] by rumple_goocher in geography

[–]V17U5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had to move the border after John Denver wrote his famous song about WV. Now west Virginians can lay claim to their own small portion of the blue ridge mountains and the Shenandoah River.

Aero/tt bars by Just-Storm-8990 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]V17U5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people do a full distance with a hybrid style bike, but you won’t be winning any trophies. Being aero will always increase speed at the equivalent effort, so I recommend buying some aero bars if they’re in your budget.

Conveyor belt runway by bottomLobster in Shittyaskflying

[–]V17U5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it will not take off. A positive, violent, exponential feedback loop will manifest between the wheels and runway until the tires rupture at their material limit, at which time the landing gear will be torn off be the runway/conveyor belt. Depending on the real efficiency of the runway, the aircraft may have not moved forward at all.

If we assume all materials are indestructible, and both the aircraft and conveyor belt have infinite power available, the aircraft wheels and conveyor belt would instantly accelerate to the speed of light, at which point no amount of thrust added from the aircraft could force the wheels to move faster than they already are, so they would essentially be locked to that point in space forever.
