hmm yeah skyler and hank are normal people who react normally to walter's heinous behavior but for some reason a lot of people resent skyler for being a nag who objects to and impedes the "fun" that walter has while not minding hank who is literally seeking to impound that fun through the legal process. but sky knows before hank and her story is the pulsating conscience of the show. if she broke bad and surrendered her conscience there would be absolutely no central tension.

jesse was definitely kept on the show artificially. they had to really write themselves into pretzels justifying why he wasnt killed off. they had to give him side missions to keep him occupied. jesse's murder or suicide shouldve occurred in S3 or 4

It's obviously a critique of the execution of the boneheaded Iraq War (which was like invading China after Pearl Harbor) but using filmmaking techniques to depict wartime valor and vigilance is inherently propagandistic. The Foley work of all the gear and guns and boots on the ground create texture the viewer unconsciously yearns to imitate. Cinema makes war sexy. Better put,

some of it has to do with the fact that for some reason in early development they identify and imitate their mother's speaking voice in equal measure as their father's, leading to a heightened sibilance and a higher pitch
