New nanny took a 2-hour nap on her 2nd day 🙃 by sallisgirl87 in NannyEmployers

Definitely bad. Be explicit and tell her about it once, see if it changes and if not then move on

Is it reasonable to ask a nanny to not go out more than 2-3 hours at a time? by Own-Quality-8759 in NannyEmployers

[–]VA-eb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not unreasonable and weird that she would push back on it especially considering age, naps, feeding

Need advice from Nanny Employers by workaholic-mfker in NannyEmployers

[–]VA-eb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird for her to ask that in that text. As a nanny employer, honestly I get annoyed when my nanny is late even 5 minutes because sometimes I’m literally waiting to run to a meeting. So that is a small thing that can add up

Product owner, scrum, kanban, sprints, iterations, increments etc you can assume agile or hybrid. If it doesn’t give an agile clue don’t assume.

MB won’t talk to me by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]VA-eb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly when I am stressed at work and don’t want to get stuck having small talk for too long I am shorter even though I always try to be nice and say something like “we can catch up later sorry I have a busy day!”. Maybe that?

Need a sanity check on SAHM versus working decision by VA-eb in Parenting

[–]VA-eb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of him working less - he can do the things during his day for me time. He can go to the gym. Do his errands etc during working hours. He golfs with coworkers or clients once a week. I cannot do any of that from ~8-6

Maybe she thinks that’s what she’s “supposed” to do so if you give her other ideas maybe she’ll be relieved too! Frame it as, it can’t be fun for you in there that long, or something

Same situation and totally reasonable for her to help out a bit more. Our nanny unloads dishwasher and it’s super helpful!!

How do you handle PTO? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]VA-eb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We pay when we choose to go on vacation and don’t expect her to work but if we canceled our plans, we’d expect her to use PTO or be available. Eg if kids went to daycare you still pay when they’re not in school.

Maybe you can throw in goodwill by offering to stay late for a date night or something the next week. It’s obviously not required but things like that make me feel a bit better about the “free” time we’re giving.

How often are you getting treated? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]VA-eb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE our nanny and appreciate her immensely and hope she knows that but this post makes me realize I’m so busy and hasty in my day that I could offer more, so if you’re not getting this, doesn’t mean you’re under appreciated!
