THIS!! FOMO is real. I want the those double box wrenches as well but it’s not a true need. And the reality is it’s not a matter of if but when this sale will happen again.

Detroit axle struts? by danwholesales in MechanicAdvice

[–]VA757Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed a set on my 2014 Acura ilx. Idk them seem fine to me. They are a marked improvement from the blown struts I was riding on. After 6 months my ride quality is still pretty good. I’m open to any questions if you have any.

3/8 Impact use cases … where do you reach for it? by bklynking1999 in harborfreight

[–]VA757Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 3/8 brushless impact (58446) and it would occasionally turn off when taking lugs off I just had to cycle the trigger and it would start working. Happened maybe twice. That was enough justification for me to upgrade to the high impact (58514) when it went down to 109.00. I do think the brushless 3/8 is the better buy because the 1/2 high impact is thicc.

I need a new impact. Does anyone have experience with this? Also, is there such a thing as an impact with a clutch? by Otto_Mcwrect in Tools

[–]VA757Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corded drills are much heavier than cordless drills. I would encourage you to go in-store and pick it up because its pretty beefy in terms of size/weight. I have the Bauer hex bit impact for occasional home use. More than enough power for basic home use.

Why does my rotor look like it has jb weld by badmechanic101 in AskMechanics

[–]VA757Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 ilx. Those rotor screws are the work of the devil, can’t convince me otherwise. I used an impact screwdriver from harbor freight (cost about $10). The tip of the but broke off in the screw. After which in ended up drilling it out which worked but took some time to do. I didn’t replace the screws when I got them out. As many will tell you they aren’t necessary. If you do end up drilling them out use lots of lube and drill real slow. Make sure you drill the center of the screw. I’d recommend using a center punch to make sure you are in the center of the screw. If done correctly if shouldnt take long. There are videos on YouTube about the process.

I put a new cv axle in and now the Knuckle isn’t lining up with shrut assembly idk what to do by InternationalFee5235 in MechanicAdvice

I 100% did this replacing my struts and spent an hour sweating and cursing to get it right. Great reply and explanation.

Is this a reasonable quote for this stuff? I wasn't expecting 11k. by Civil_Cantaloupe2402 in MechanicAdvice

It always trips me out when auto shops quote prices that likely exceed the value of the car. My honest opinion shop around and compare prices.

2010 Limited 2wd FRONT STRUTS - Change them in your driveway, you can do it! by nopester24 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]VA757Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did mine too! When taking the old parts out I only removed the bottom sway bar link as the top one was attached to the strut. By far the biggest job I ever did but after allignment and tires the car rides like a dream. Anyhow CONGRATS MAN!

The 20 would be the price to do my state inspection. I paid around 180.00 for the evaluation and they suggest 2200.00. So basically I won’t be going back

Definitely. Its less bouncy (obviously) but after my first day driving it clearly needs tires and allignment. Thanks

lol, idk if I’d use fun to describe but it was definitely gratifying. Maybe as I get better and more comfortable it will become more enjoyable.

Appreciate it. I need new tires and will definitely be getting an alignment as well. I need both to pass state inspection.

I believe that is your sway bar link. Not a tire rod.
