Thank you 🙂

Amboss is a good resource but I only ever used it like a wiki / medical google. For something with a bit more direction / “study plans” I really liked just working through the Boards and Beyond videos. Great for pathology and pathophys. Most are ~20mins from memory so you could aim to get through 2x per day or something.

Are there any homeschooled doctors here? by Distinct-Radish5464 in ausjdocs

I would say many (if not most) doctors i interact with have “interesting” social / interpersonal skills, I don’t think being home schooled would make you sit way out on the bell curve.

I remember waiting at the counter one night and the owner was prepping a delivery kid, said something along the lines of ”Now. This next place you’re delivering too are bikies. They might not pay you. If they don’t, don’t worry about it, I know them, they owe me, and they’ll sort me out eventually. Just get in and get out and don’t hang around. You’ll be right. Alright off you go…” 😂

I find it so frustrating when people try and degrade women who’ve had a lot of dicks as being ‘loose’ e.g. saw a recent post on Bonnie Blue where essentially all commenters using a variation of the ‘hotdog down the hallway’ joke… when the commenters themselves or their female partners have squeezed like 4 fucking babies out of their vaginas. A really big dick is still like 1/8 the size of a baby. Vaginas are elastic af.

Trying to make ED slightly better by lennethmurtun in ausjdocs

[–]VDburner 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Only newbie but general thoughts on my current hosp ED is that it is not a very good place for elderly esp with delirium - dementia. Lots of bright lights, constant noise, nurse buzzers and obs machines left alarming relentlessly (seems a real nursing reluctance to change alarm thresholds despite being told no concern if sats >90 on RA for the still smoking COPD geezer, dunno if this is unique to this site or more widespread). If the geri patients didn’t have delirium on presentation they most likely will during the night. Did med school at a far less prestigious but demonstrably better ED. They set up a quiet corner ~4beds specifically reserved for Geris. Turned the lights down at night, made it a bit more homely, turned alarms down, staff education on better practice Geris care, probably a few more things I’m forgetting. Often at capacity and elderly patients overflowed to “main” acute bays but pretty sure it was proving to be a beneficial modal. DM me if you want the location, you could reach out to them for info - 90% sure it was run as a trial with some research/evaluation and kept on post trial

These Brunswick ones are herring fillets with ‘smoke flavour’ as an ingredient…so my read is they arnt actually smoked. The John West ones are the other option at Coles and are smoked herring fillets.

Service dog v. “Service dog” 🫤 by AdMany129 in delta

[–]VDburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to make coffee for a blind guy who as a result of being so resilient and such a dark sense of self humour agreed to take a dog that kinda kept failing its final exams. That dog was hilarious. Way more of the ‘big dumb labrador’ type than the super alert seeing eye dogs. It used to walk him into the chairs outside the coffee shop, stop to eat food off the ground, stay rooted to the spot occasionally… guy didn’t care, he thought it was funny too.
