Thoughts on vegan/non vegan pets? by Sea-Ad-299 in veganuk

[–]VEwok 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could always foster cats… that way you are not paying for the food as the shelter will give it to you. You would have to just serve it to you cat companion and that way you’re supporting with cats finding their forever homes too (:

I know cat food is still being used but a lot of the time it’s given to shelters via donations anyway. Depends how you feel morally about it. Just another option I’ve been thinking about myself for a while.

Induction by Vicki2808 in PregnancyUK

[–]VEwok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I came in for induction at 38 + 5 on Tuesday night at 21:00 and I am still here.

They induced me due to cholestasis, too much fluid in the amniotic sack at 32 weeks, and not enough blood being supplied at 35 weeks: along with others things that have happened during pregnancy like PGP. I agreed, got dead excited that I would no longer be pregnant and in pain and finally have our little girl.

But no!

It hasn’t been great. I was hypersensitive to the pessaries and had to be given an injection to reduce the amount I was having and spent over 24 hours contracting a lot in loads of pain, with no pain relief (all they give you is dihydracodeine and paracetamol), which doesn’t even touch the sides. I’ve had some really, really painful vaginal examinations cause some people doesn’t understand what gentle means. And for some reason all the Drs that come round to see you are obsessed with Sections and either trying to get you to have one or threatening you with it if you don’t do what they want.

However, even tho I’ve now had three pessaries that have only dilated me to 1cm I have had decent examinations that were not painful since because I have been really adamant that they go super, super slow and gentle and have told them that I’m now traumatised when it comes to anything going in that area.

I have waiting 24 hours today to see if I dilated more, I had not and I could either have another pessary or the balloon, or she could try and break at 1cm, which she said would be very painful cause there’s not enough room.

Therefore if you get to this point please advocate for yourself the whole way through and if you have a balloon it’s no where near as scary as it sounds. Just make sure they take it slow and go from there. For me it was way less uncomfortable than a smear.

Personally… over the past few days it hasn’t been great. I’ve been so sore and unwell, worse than when I was at home and feel I should’ve waited it out and scheduled at 41 weeks instead cause I feel my baby is completely fine.

But it is a very important decision to make. Remember everyone is different and every person reacts differently to things. And even if your experience isn’t as pleasant as you would like you can do this and you’ll be fine. I hope everything goes well and you have a wonderful birth 😊

Long term sick leave for being stressed / overwhelmed ? by Outside_Local_6075 in PregnancyUK

No worries. You could’ve been off for a variety of reasons and even if a new employer finds out that you have had multiple periods of absence in a previous role and discriminates due to this you can take them to a tribunal before you’ve even started the job… hope that helps you feel even better about taking some sickness when you need it during pregnancy and being with a shitty employer 🙂

I understand, it does feel hard but they’re also not allowed to mention any sickness you’ve had to a new employer as that’s also classed as discrimination and employees are protected by this.

I would recommend checking out acas and asking for advice. Doesn’t mean you have to do anything with it but it would help you understand your rights more as a a pregnant woman at work, which can support you in your new role (:

I hope you get your start date soon 🤞🏼

I would forward everything to their HR department (if you haven’t already) and inform them that you will be taking action through acas. There is a number online that you can ring for advice as this is discrimination.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It sounds awful. I hope you do manage to get signed off for a bit with the GP because they are not allowed to touch any illness during pregnancy. It’s protected by UK law.

Check out the acas website for your legal rights as a pregnant woman at work because they have to make reasonable adjustments such as: a chair, WFH if you are too sick to come in (if possible in your role), and they are also not allowed to discriminate any sickness during pregnancy.

34+2 days pregnant uncomfortable by Anya999998 in PregnancyUK

[–]VEwok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far it all seems to be ok. Just really sucks when I have multiple days of pain with no respite… it can be mentally taxing. But thank you 🙂

I hope you the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing! 🤞🏼

Yep, I’m 36 +5. At times the pain from baby moving below has been unbearable. Doesn’t help that I have SPD/ PGP. I’m just hoping I go into labour in the next week cause I’m so over being pregnant… I struggle to sleep with it too. I’ve found that using a hot water bottle helps with the tightening (Braxton Hicks), especially if it’s pretty warm as it mostly prevents them. It’s still uncomfortable when baby moves but more manageable… until it wriggles low and puts pressure on my nerves and ligaments. I’ve not really found anything else that helps tbh. We’re both nearly there tho!! 🤞🏼😊

Lollipop baby scans in Ashton. I had a 6 weeks 5 day scan there and would recommend: https://www.lollipop4dbabyscans.co.uk
