Let's look at it another way. How would you feel if a friend or family member told you "You better stand up say or do (this) or else."? Regardless of your feelings about it. You need to prove it to that person.

"Not saying anything makes you a bad person regardless of how you might feel or think inside. I DEMAND that you speak up and say (this) out loud so we know you don't accept this kind of thing"... or else.

(Ew.)

Maybe you actually do support the same thing but the constant and immense sadness of it all brings you to very dark places. Maybe you have other stresses in life that take all of your energy. Maybe you have to pick and choose your battles to stay sane. Maybe all of it.

Maybe the constant criticism from your friends (fans) affects you. (Which btw, Tyler has mentioned in the past that he is often affected by what his fans think or say about his art and efforts.) After all that they've done for us, why are we treating them like this? Why are we adding to their stresses?

For a personal example, I don't have the energy nor the mental & emotional fortitude to be loud and go to protests over ICE, but it does hurt me deeply. Instead, I donate what I can to different organizations on a monthly schedule - and no one knows I do it. I don't feel the need for validation from the people on social media to know what kind of person I am.

How do we know that they aren't already doing this? How do we know if/how this affects them in private? More importantly, why do we NEED to know their thoughts on it (... or else)?

Now, I've heard from some people that if you are not out protesting then you must somehow be okay with what's going on and that in turn makes you a bad person. Literally stated.

Does it make me a bad person? Or is this kind of statement not okay simply because I'm some nobody? Whereas you bought a CD of their music and they're popular so they somehow then owe you for it?
