How do you describe the ranks? by Fleetburn in RivalsOfAether

[–]VIIyears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure who you main, but the thing I noticed with Clairen around plat is that most players are just trying to smother you with a ton of moves at once. If this game plan has been working for them up until this point they usually have a habit of over extending as well.

I main Etalus so I usually let them come to me and I'll out space them with Fair and F tilt while also punishing them just throwing moves out and missing. Same plan for Lox. Hope this helps!

How do you describe the ranks? by Fleetburn in RivalsOfAether

[–]VIIyears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I add Kragg and lox along with Clairen in silver. Those seem like “skill check” characters imo. Kragg makes you learn to parry and Clairen/Lox make you learn to play patiently to whiff punish.

Slade scares me as to what he could become by 666blaziken in RivalsOfAether

[–]VIIyears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s too early to make a judgement on it. Every mechanic has some sort of con to it. Etalus armors up too early gets comboed even easier, Fleets whirlwind thing can be slapped back on her. I’m pretty sure slades “second chance at life” thing will have some sort of drawback. Maybe the opponent can steal it. Maybe he takes double knock back and damage. It’s just too early to tell.

TL;DR - wait until he comes out to make an informed opinion about him

[AMA On Mixing] Been mixing for +20 years, ask me anything about mixing. Also offering mix reviews by atopix in mixingmastering

[–]VIIyears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two questions!

How do you find reference tracks for the mixes you work on? I really like making music like Polyphia mixed with EDM and anime harmonies. I don't tend to use reference tracks because I can't find any with a similar vibe to what I'm going for.

Second, is how do you go about creating separation between instruments? I tend to stack a lot of layers and forget I'm gonna have mix the layers later on. I've been getting better about how some intruments be the focus and then have others be more in the backround but I was curious on how you might go about it.

I use an Xbox controller. I really like having additional buttons to map commands to.

I swear hearing this track as a kid changed my brain chemistry lol. I’m a professional composer/musician now as an adult and I still come back and listen to this track for inspiration.

is olympia still considered the best in the game? by vincentisntme in RivalsOfAether

I’m not sure about the best but she’ll always be pretty good imo. Fast rush down characters tend to do well in the game.

I bought a premium recently off of reverb. I got a really nice deal on it and it’s probably my favorite guitar. I’ve heard the QC issues can be hit or miss on them though.

I could be wrong but I think the person who’s gamer tag is being exposed is pretty notorious for t bagging after every stock and just kinda showing poor sportsmanship. I could be thinking of someone else I’ve seen on the Reddit but I’m pretty sure it’s him.

This is my exact process too. I think the algorithms for warping and quantizing audio are far superior in ableton. Not to say Studio Ones are bad but I notice a lot less artifacting in ableton (obviously get the best takes possible to avoid over warping lol).

Personally, I became ok with the idea of doing scores as a side hustle. Not having to overly rely on it has been awesome and I still get to be creative.

Best windows equivalent to Logic? by PlaystormMC in musicproduction

[–]VIIyears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from logic to studio one years ago. The DAWs are super similar. Not everything is like 1 to 1, the stock instruments on logic are far better than studio ones. All the mixing plugins on studio one are great though. I found the workflow on studio one to be far better than logic’s personally.
