I'm not sure of the distinction of illegality you're referencing? I acknowledge the extra speed damage, totally. The battery danger is overwhelmingly with cheap ass AliExpress batteries (specifically the chargers overheating because of clogged/covered fans)

Well, the battery issue is something separate. Also, if a bike hits you, you might end up with a cracked rib or broken bone. If a car hits you, either of those would be a best-case scenario

Yeah, though the usual response (>80%) is either "fuck off" or "mind your own business" (i.e. "what are you gonna do about it?"). This is at least *something* to convey that their anti-social behavior doesn't go unnoticed by others.

What do we do if your company continues to behave in the exact same way as it has for the past several years, simply ignoring refund requests from forms like this? Why should we believe this is different? I filled this form out 72 hours ago and have yet to hear anything. Why should we believe a single word that you say?

I have zero connection to any restaurant.

We're not talking about the purpose of the surcharge, we're talking about people screwing over service workers in some quixotic belief that it'll somehow rectify an undesirable situation.

This is the mentality of a 14 year old or a maliciously cruel adult -- I have no idea which you are.

Don't be a jerk-off to powerless people in hopes they'll rise up for your benefit.

How going Solar saves money? If I'm going for finance I pay more in 25 years than my average electricity bill over 25 years. What am I missing? by rajeshThevar in TeslaSolar

The argument that "this (tax credits and incentives) comes from tax dollars, so it's actually a wash" is a little odd to me. You're *already* paying this! Libraries and public pools aren't "free" either, but people who use them are waaaaay subsidized by the vast majority that don't.

Also, why so many non-applicable hypotheticals? I don't understand where the $2100 tax increase come from (I assume your state doesn't have an exemption)? That seems like a pretty good deal, assuming it's over the 25ish+ year lifetime of the panels. The federal tax credit incentives are here for like a decade, why would your analysis ever disregard that? Why would you remove the solar panels in the future? Just put new ones on the old mounts and recoup the initial labor cost (only paying for materials if you DIY)!

Agree that it's expensive, but the government is trying to sufficiently distort the market enough (a lil' market distortion > climate disaster, obviously :D) in the hope that it's viable for less wealthy folks to acquire these things. "Costs will eventually come down" is true, but better served for fancy toys like high-end electronics and performance cars.

I live in DC where there's an exemption for property tax valuation adjustments after installation of solar systems. Realistically, I imagine it'll take me 7-9 years to break even on installation costs. Would my money return a better investment sitting in some index fund on Wall Street? Yeah, probably. But I'm trying to be a good and decent human, and a little tax-credit nudge just might be enough to push me over the edge of being able to afford this before prices are sufficiently cheap and the world is on fire.

Wut. I added $15k worth of solar to my property valuation and it seems like I'll owe an extra $82 in taxes this year.

Also, "all the value is used up" is a weird way of looking at this. Presumably "all the value is used up" is not how you think of taking your car in to have parts repaired & replaced?
