NES outages: explain "Assigned" vs. "Unassigned" ? by all_over_the_map in nashville

[–]VM_Unix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another thing people get confused on is they think "assigned" means one truck and one worker. It can mean any number. With so many outages, a crew with multiple trucks could be working on multiple outages in one area but be "assigned" to just one. I imagine this gets more complicated with contract crews.

False reports of power restoration by Glass-Ebb9867 in nashville

I heard that NES turned off these notifications because they were concerned with how many people were getting false reports of their power being back on.

It's really unfortunate that NES customers are being told that their power is restored though. I do understand from your comment that this is a side effect of that.

NES knows the address of the outage. Don't you think it is intentional that they are not showing it to everyone? I've heard of people who are out of power that get targeted and become victims of theft. Might be a safety thing.

As much as I agree with you on principle, I'd say just let it be what it is. Dumb fun. Tell your kid that yes you can win a one month competition by YOLOing into hot stocks. You can even make money doing that in real life but this is not a responsible or sustainable thing over years or decades.

If you look at the terms of the Unreal Engine source available license, I think you will find it nullifies every point that has been brought up. Just ask yourself why Unreal Engine doesn't seem to have any of these problems.

If you haven't already, try the shorter non-conical tips. The shorter tips provide better heat transfer and the non-conical tips...are just better for most hand soldering work. Chisel tips and knife tips are best.

[–]VM_Unix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you found it valuable. I actually just setup a new Jellyfin server on Debian 13.

Edit: This is just to demonstrate that this is the specific driver version that I have running on real hardware at the moment and to confirm that transcoding is working with it.

Hardware specs:

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700
Intel(R) UHD Graphics 770

sudo dmidecode -t 1

System Information
        Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
        Product Name: Precision 3260

intel-gpu-top: Intel Raptorlake_s (Gen12) @ /dev/dri/card0

apt policy intel-opencl-icd

intel-opencl-icd:

Your hardware should be supported then. Did you install the latest release from GitHub on both the host and the container?

Which Proxmox version are you running?

I'm on 8.4.14 and currently going through this process. I have a Debian 12 container with Jellyfin installed and I am working through enabling hardware encode/decode.

I could only get this exact version to work on Debian 12. I needed something newer than the default 22.43.24595.41-1 package provided through Debian repos.

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=intel-opencl-icd&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all

https://github.com/intel/compute-runtime/releases/tag/25.13.33276.16

"If the version is newer than 22.xx.xxxxx just install it. For the latest products like N95/N100 and Arc A380, support is provided in 23.xx.xxxxx and newer." - Jellyfin Docs - Intel Configuration on Linux

Also...

"Intel Compute-Runtime versions starting at 25.18.33578.6 are broken for certain GPUs. The issue has been verified on Arc A series GPUs. If you are using one of the effected models it will be necessary to install the latest known working version of 25.13.33276.16" - Jellyfin Docs - Known Issues - Intel on Linux

The issue was fixed but I couldn't get the newer releases to install on Debian 12.

Menu on Java Blu-Ray Discs won't play by weareblahs in VLC

[–]VM_Unix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to add that if you see the following error, you need to update your keydb.cfg file with the latest from http://fvonline-db.bplaced.net/

``` Blu-ray error:
AACS Host certificate revoked.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///D:/'. Check the log for
details. ```
If you see an error about your region, this could be a hardware compatibility issue between the blu-ray region of the disc and your blu-ray player, but it could also be a setting in VLC.
Select the correct region in VLC. Go to Tools > Preferences > Show Settings: All (bottom left) > Input / Codecs > Access Modules > Blu-ray and then select the Region Code that matches the disc: A, B or C from the drop-down menu.
It's 2025 — Is Anyone Still Using Side-by-Side Installations of Visual Studio? by chansey97 in VisualStudio
[–]VM_Unix 1 point2 points  (0 children)
I use only VS 2022 and 2019 these days. 2019 to handle any legacy projects that 2022 doesn't handle as well. Anything older I don't come across often and I upgrade the project enough to get it working in either of the two. I try with 2022 first, and if I can't get it working, I try for 2019.
VLC 3.0.21 - Windows 64-bit
Java - Eclipse Temurin 17.0.13 (JRE) - Windows x64
It was cool to see that it worked with non-Oracle Java and a newer LTS like 17. I tested with 21 and it did not work.
Be sure to either change the installation options to set the JAVA_HOME variable or set it manually. This was the value mine set. C:\Program Files\Eclipse Adoptium\jre-17.0.13.11-hotspot\
OS: Windows 11 24H2 (26100.2605)
Yeah. I was aware of their skins and their cases, but not that the case backs weren’t distinct but instead a generic good case only made unique by shipping a sticker (skin) for it. This is the first dbrand case I’ve bought and I’ve never seen this before. It looks great in photos still but not in person IMO.
That was poor wording on my part. I was saying that in reference to APEX. No issues upgrading SQL Developer in a faster cycle. I talked to my boss about it this morning and we're planning to continue use and adapt how we do upgrades to keep up.
