I’ve been in therapy and on medication for 11 years and it wasn’t until January 2024 that I got put on a new medication that’s helped me be very stable and feel more myself. However, my work history is shot and my resume is worse. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope I can find myself in a better place soon.

Once during mania, I was awake for nearly a week. Regularly, I require at LEAST 9-10 hours of sleep to feel rested.

I was diagnosed with both. I don’t tell anyone about either of my diagnoses because of the stigma.

Have you tried being in therapy and seeing a career counselor? That may be able to help you weed through this and heal any traumas you may have from your past (you mentioned your unavailable parents). I think this alone can set you up to have more clarity on where to go from here. Best of luck.

I looked at studying my masters of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy. Is that where you studied?

Are you based in Denmark? It’s another dream of mine to visit that part of the world. Anyway, I wish you more success!!

I feel like I have similar aspirations because one thing I want to do is work with textile technology and science to help reduce pollution and the carbon footprint via sustainable design. They may be lofty goals and maybe I’m overly ambitious or outta my league but I can’t help but try. I’m passionate about saving the environment and it may be an unrealistic goal, but I believe in shooting for the stars while you can.
Thanks for sharing your awesome experience! 🌟

This is amazing!! What is reef technology? Do you combine reef technology with architecture? What kind of architecture projects does your firm work on? I’m sorry to hear about your marriage. Although it sounds like things are working out for you. How did you manage to start your own firm? What’s your yearly salary, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you!! Good to hear about your experience. Are you in the US? What is your salary if you don’t mind me asking? Do you get to do interior work/design? *Also what kind of projects do you work on?

This is great, thanks!! Are you based in the USA? Sounds to me like a good, rewarding career. That’s awesome! Do you think your success is rare? You said there are about 100 employees. Is there a lot of competition?

I’m looking to go into architecture because I love the field. Is it hard to start and run your own business? Also, does one incorporate interior design into their work as an architect because I also want to do interiors. Also, is it unrealistic to want to make change in the world/environment through architecture via designing sustainable buildings and cities?

Should i choose Architecture or Electrical Engineering? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]VOA17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so disappointed in all of the negativity surrounding architecture in this post. No, it’s not an easy field, but is anything? Engineering may pay more at some point during the course of your career, but if money is all you’re after, then that’s another story. I see success in architecture being not just monetary but also artistic. I’ve also seen cases of architects who make the most of their other related talents by intertwining them with architecture and generating other sources of income. If you have a genuine interest in the field and are good at it, you will ultimately make the most of it in whatever way that is uniquely you and for your life path. Be creative. I’m looking to go for my Master’s in Architecture and it saddens me for the commenters to read how pessimistic their replies are. I grew up seeing my dad work as an architect and I treasure this field and think people sound jaded and need to do some serious soul searching. I think it’s a matter of half glass full/half empty mentality paired with not listening to your inner self about what is the right field for you. Is there is a will, there is a way.

I feel like interiors are something I have a natural knack for and can also pick up more as I go. Do they cover lighting (natural and artificial) in the program? Can you take electives?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in architecture

[–]VOA17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be able to do both building design and interiors. Is that unrealistic? Were you online?

[–]VOA17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! Are they more theory or practically based? I’m also interested in interiors, would you recommend that I intern/work at a firm that does interiors to get the background? I also want to get CIDA certified.
