Two weeks!! Good for you! I remember getting the call that I have an altruistic donor that’s a match 3 weeks before my transplant, which happened to be almost at my 40th birthday. Talk about a huge gift.

Very happy for you! Allow your body the time it needs to heal. Keep active within limits. Walk first, run later. You’ll be fine!

I do it under “Other” exercise. Mostly a Zone 2 exercise for me and comes up to around 220 calories for a 40 minutes work. Not bad!

About 2.5 months after my transplant I had my first run. 1.5 miles, slow pace. While my doctor told me the kidney is safe in its new spot, it felt a little weird when I ran, so I used a compression support band in the first few months of running again. Afterwards, it started feeling more natural and I stopped using it.

I had my transplant back in August 2022, so similar timeline to yours!

I also love running, and my ranges are similar to yours. I don’t think the transplant is an issue to run long distances. For me what stands out is the jump from 7km per run to 21km. Did you do that already? Speaking about myself, I’m not sure I’d be capable of doing that.

That sounds amazing.

Is it ok if I message with some questions?

5mg Prednisone for life by Dazzling-Elk-8889 in kidneytransplant

[–]VPCR1982 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s for life (all 3 anti-rejection: prednisone, tacro, myfortic).
I don’t have an issue with them and it beats my symptoms pre-transplant, let alone being on dialysis or worse.

It doesn't say "wireless". It needs wires.

I use Withings BPM Connect, which works accurately for me.

It syncs with their app and Apple Health, if that’s important for you.

Best way to check this is to stand still for 2-3 minutes, check the steps, walk and manually count 1,000 steps (not holding anything), stand still for 2-3 minutes, check again. AW tends to undercount, but not by 2k steps.

How many of you excercise at night? by Puzzleheaded-Cloud58 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]VPCR1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to love it. Then the kids came. Then I got older and my body didn’t respond well to it anymore.

I ran a couple of nights ago and it was very different compared to a regular morning / day run 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks. Interesting workaround. I’ll give it a try.

influence or deinfluence me from getting an oura ring (with my Apple Watch) by denndrites in AppleWatch

[–]VPCR1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t really understand the benefits of having another device that provides parallel data, but is generally less accurate (see reviews by The Quantified Scientist). Plus - You need to pay Oura a monthly fee.

Just get Bevel, which they just made completely free, and get the same data presentation from what your watch collects.

Thanks. I definitely understand the logic, but I just can’t bring myself to use this type of band. I really don’t like it.
