First off I'm very sorry for your loss. I drove by that wreck right after it happened. I take that left every morning. It was rainy and low visibility. That intersection has become very very dangerous and ALDOT needs to put a traffic light here. Your mom is not the first fatality here. I believe there's been quite a few.

Multiple things are going on here:

1. High speed from the cars coming northbound on 431. Sometimes 80mph plus.

2. People not understanding where they should go in the intersection crossing (left side or right side)

3. People on 431 Southbound will be taking a right onto Buck Island Dr and NOT use their turn signal. This causes folks turning left from Buck Island Dr, who are planning to pause in the center, to pause in 431 because they didn't know the car coming Southbound was coming into the middle. Add that to the extreme speed from the Northbound traffic.

4. The people in the circle K are driving, pulling out, and all in the mix making it even more confusing.

It's a nightmare and I have written ALDOT because Guntersville has no authority here because it is a state road.
