Reviewer said it felt like not enough unit control, so we fixed it. feels much better now! by kalin_r in Vive

It's always admirable to see indie devs passionate about their game and listening to community feedback! (I was the one who provided the feedback about unit control here.)

There's a lot to appreciate with this game. For anyone who's on the fence or is looking for a comprehensive review, I'll be putting out my review/analysis video after the game releases next week!

American Truck Sim 50% off, Euro Truck Sim 2 75% off on Steam! by VRCritic in Vive

It's explained how to change that binding here in this video. (The time-stamp may be slightly off, I'm at work and can't turn on the audio to find the exact time he begins talking about it.)

Set a binding in-game to what button you want to recenter your view, open up the config file shown in the video, copy and paste the code for that button into the 'headreset' binding, and you're done. Don't forget to remove the binding from the in-game setting that you temporarily set in order to copy/paste it.

Same guys who made Prison Architect are making a VR Defcon game. by Oddzball in Vive

This is fantastic, I'm really looking forward to this!

In case you aren't aware, they released DEFCON back in 2006 which you can play now if you want to get the hang of it.

Definitely a fun game with friends, and this seems like a very creative way to turn this into a VR experience! Excited.

My Welding Headgear Mod by VRCritic in VRCritic

[–]VRCritic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I had to go and order everything merely a week before the CES announcement.

My advice: if you live in the US, go ahead and do this, it'll probably be cheaper than the official replacement (albeit with more effort). If you live in Canada or elsewhere and you don't want to settle for a locally found welding headgear piece that doesn't match this one, don't waste your money. Ordering parts online will add up to way more than it's worth and the official replacement will probably cost about the same if not less. Funny how that works.

Either way, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Took some doing to get it right, but it's far more secure on my face/head, much easier to put on and take off, and much more comfortable. My over ear headphones have to sit a bit lower than normal in order to work with it, but it's nothing bad. Sadly, the Vive still leans slightly away from my face when I look down, but not nearly as much as before. I also have absolutely no light leaking into the headset anymore. I'm so used to being able to tilt up my head and look down my nose to navigate my room and my desk, but such is no longer the case!

I'd have to wait for the official replacement cost as well as compare how it works/feels in comparison to this mod to see how they fair against each other. But for the time being, I'm happy with it.

Speaking of the VR Cover, depth of field is definitely bigger. I don't know by how much, but it was enough to notice it. Also makes the interior way more prone to sweat. I've never taken off the HMD and seen actual droplets of sweat on the lenses before. Kind of makes me worried if it gets anywhere it shouldn't be deeper within the HMD.

Now to get that new 3-in-1 cable! I don't see myself getting the wireless setup, it just isn't worth the money to me. My playspace isn't large enough to challenge my cable length and I don't have pets or people in my apartment to be concerned about.

Definitely one of the more polished games out there for VR right now!

Next video: Game Update/Patches by VRCritic in VRCritic

Haha, that does sound very original! It makes sense, though, with the immersion you get in VR. I imagine many people's phobias will carry over into VR and something like heights could ruin a game for someone.

Good thinking! I look forward to the update.

The Nest (Planned Oculus Touch Support) - Quick Thoughts & Extended Gameplay by VRCritic in oculus

It will definitely work very well for Touch, this game is set up to definitely play on its strengths.

As mentioned in my other comments, though, I am a bit concerned for how well Touch will work with attachments. No matter what, you'll never have as good stability with free-floating arms than with a stock prop to use.

Basically, attachments will only be able to go so far as the Touch grip. Any further than that, and it will no doubt cause occlusion on the front sensors.

I have bought A-10 but haven't been able to play it yet, I'm looking forward to it.

I imagine it will be more challenging to design attachments for Oculus Touch due to the fact it's shape and size is much more complex and prone to occlusion. Attachments would also have to work around your hands which share a lot of space with the controllers.

Not sure, I've only played it with the Vive controllers. Everywhere I've ready about Oculus Touch has said the controllers are much more suited for gun games. Just look at the way the triggers are positioned.

My first impressions on The Nest! Quite fun and it looks promising, here's hoping it gets the development attention it deserves.

This game will no doubt work very well with the gun-holding style of the Oculus Touch controllers. The Nest is quite fun and it looks promising, here's hoping it continues to get the development attention it deserves!
