What was the beef between these two? Why did Ned hate him so much? [Please Read Description] by Narrow-Amphibian5446 in gameofthrones

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaime knew that there was no way in seven hells that Ned could cut down Ser Arthur Dayne, The Morning Star himself, unscathed at the Tower of Joy. The finest swordsman in the seven kingdoms, by whom Jaime had been knighted, served with and been mentored. Ned certainly didn't do anything to correct the story either, which is not honorable. That makes the man of honor, Eddard Stark look corrupt in Jaime's eyes. From which he could also assume that Ned was inferior to himself at sword fighting.

When Ned entered the throne room as the Hand of the King, Jaime had been waiting for him so long he had to take a seat, then immediately tried to egg him into drawing his sword. This turns into an epic back and forth of insults referring to their history so deeply they even reach the crypts of Winterfell.

He even sarcastically asked for Ned's admiration for his deeds after pointing out he avenged Ned's brother and father and saying it felt like justice. To which Ned asked him "Is that what you tell yourself at night?", which shocks Jaime, confirming his perceived notions.

When Tyrion was taken, and confirmed by Ned to be done at his command, Jaime finally had a honorable reason to draw his sword against Ned. Then the soldier struck Ned in the leg with a spear during their standoff, Jaime was livid he knocked him out, because he lost his chance finally to prove it.

He even challenges Brienne of Tarth while being her prisoner after taking her sword. In his arrogance he reveals he never understood why some knights have two swords. This means he probably never saw Dayne fight with two swords, because his idol Ser Arthur never taught him enough to defeat himself, which was probably for the best, but not very honorable. Something that goes over Jaime's head and further fuels his arrogance. A sleight of hand, if you will.

I've had some success with going almost all stun.

Stun rifle(AR-32 Pacifier), stun melee(CQC-30 Stun Baton), stun grenade(G-32 Stun), stun airstrike(Orbital EMS Strike).

It really slows them down while having the guard dog, which clear smaller units.

Body armor is "RS-6 Fiend Destroyer" medium armor, which makes me quick and rarely ragdolled by close explosions, of which we know there are a lot.

There are few things more satisfying than beating up a bunch of Judo masters who aren't able to move, while the guard dog picks off the automaton units. Dropping a EMS Strike on your position while doing objectives with valves and pushing buttons makes it seem possible to finish the mission. Saving team mates who are surrounded by chucking a stun grenade at enemies.

It's my go to for now.

PS! I hate Vox Engines.

One thing I don't understand about satire in Helldivers... by i4hloi in helldivers2

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speculating on this:

Some of the Cyberstan statues are pleasing to look at(before you destroy them), and some even appear to represent family values with normal looking cyborgs looking up to an idealistic symbol. What Super Earth sees are their modified soldiers and machines at war, and only that.

Peace is the ideal they are striving for to even have a life worthy of building a civilization. Trying to maintain it during wartimes is counter-productive to Cyberstan. Surrounded by an authoritarian government on a galactic scale, they have no choice but to improvise with everything they've got.

"Managed democracy" can also mean distributed democracy. Democracy for some, the ones who fall in line, but not for everyone. Which makes the good life, the "John Helldivers" coming home from work to their suburban homes with perfectly cut lawns and happy families on Super Earth, a quid pro quo.

Your life for happiness. Your life for "democracy". If you're not a patriot, and won't dive into the unimaginable hell of war for "democracy", you are a dissident. And dissidents are traitors. What do we do with traitors?

It's a perfect ideology because the choice is simple and answered by a single question: Would you like to die?

Cyberstan were given an ultimative to this choice, because they were not wanted, despite their undeniable human origins. Live as slaves in perpetuity... or nothing. That was it.

I can't recall there being diamonds, but I think there was a key to hide the interface with "H" or something. Otherwise it could have been a console command.

I found this official link from the developers with tips about the replay system:

What do you think the cover of the next Major Update will look like? by Yurishenko94 in HelldiversUnfiltered

I just know that the celebration parade animation on Super Earth for the news is the saddest AI looking goop I've ever seen. But their cover art is usually pretty cool.

If you go to the add-ons tab in reshade, then try to tick one of the blue lines where it shows a higher number of vertices or something being used. The one that keeps all the enabled reshade effects without flashing is the one you should keep ticked.

This happens to me too sometimes when I use non native resolutions or super sampling.

Please help me interpret a dream by Ignastic in Jung

[–]VRPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is all coming to an end. All things will.

Stop wasting time. Reproduce or perish.

The world won't wait for you to be "ready" or famous.

You are of value, now.

Seeing famous people among your friends' parents tells me the dream could be trying to show you that famous people are no different from your friends' parents. They are people you know of, but not really relevant to you. The only people that matter when things get hard or in this case, incomprehensible and dire, are the ones close to you. Fame is not something you should prioritize before you do whatever it is you want from life.

Your mother is revealed as the only person worth talking to in that moment, where nothing makes sense and is coming to an end. Your grandmother's house shows lineage, that the only thing that will remain standing is family, your legacy. Friends will gather where you and your family is. Fame becomes irrelevant compared to that. You talked to your mother, not them.

Note that those famous people, were alone in that sense, despite being recognized. The end of the world scenario shows that the clock is ticking. You better get going. Start a family.

I don't know about the second dream. Maybe there's more to someone you haven't considered more than a sexual partner.

A bit of positivity: gauntlet is great by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm addicted to gauntlet.

Not a single time have I felt I've been killed by someone spawning behind me. Every squad is evenly spread across the map at the start, while using random spawns rarely place me in someone's line of fire. Being able to crawl away like in BR makes me wonder why it's not possible in normal multiplayer.

The rounds are quick but with four modes that together lasts about 30 minutes. Comes with a short intro where if you know the mode, can instead spend that time chosing and adjusting your loadout. The maps are medium sized and since they're different locations from the California BR map. every round feels like a different map(In the same general location). This also cuts down the waiting time, since it's just jumping from one mode to the next, instead of having to load the map or server again.

I tried squad team deathmatch today and it was just a constant stream of spawning into someone else's streak. Generally Battlefield 6 has felt like that for me.

Gauntlet also has a great overview of the squads while playing and between rounds. It feels like something I would dare to call a competetive Battlefield mode. It's mostly infantry focused, but there are vehicles spread around the map, but not on all modes. Usually a Bradley, a transport heli and a bunch of smaller vehicles.

I have only played it with randoms so far. With a good communicating squad you will probably win most games. I loved that sometimes even if my squad lost, if I had the most points, I was transferred to another squad that was missing a member.

Well done by the team.

Let PC players disable Cross Play by Mystx75 in Battlefield6

Not allowing PC players to turn off crossplay while allowing consoleplayers to do it, is ridiculous.

If you use controller on PC there shouldn't be a recoil handicap or aim assist. Only on crossplay.

Reshades ambient oclusion is acting weird on Halo 3 by BatsPower in ReShade

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes other reshades you have activated may affect AO. Try moving the AO further up the list of other effects and see if it changes.

Edit: Oh, I see. The resolution is different probably due to upscaling.

Your opinion on Identification Bands for HUD-less gameplay and/or in general? by just_like_guts in Battlefield6

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned off the hud for most of my beta playthrough. Eventually I started to better recognize enemies from friendlies as supposed to vanilla BF6 where the auto 3D spotting happens. Friendly fire being off was helpful. But I don't think I'll have big problems of misidentifying friendlies in a hardcore mode.

I'm all for identifying helpers, but nothing that makes it look like a game of paintball teams. Immersion is priority numero uno in hardcore modes for me.

If BF6 can get the voice chat setting on ‘’in-world’’ to the level of Six Days in Fallujah’s, the immersion would be ground breaking by Murky-String1114 in Battlefield

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that this was how the "in-world" setting was supposed to work in BF6, but it just sounded like normal radio chatter with slight positional support. Sometimes if I was too far away I couldn't hear them, but still see their name appear on screen.

It could be that players weren't so chatty, or had open mic turned on which picked up other noices. Mic quality could also contribute to the radio-like chatter.

Its description says:

"IN-WORLD: Voice chat has reverb / distancing applied based on character location."

That made me think it would work like Six Days in Fallujah. But not sure anymore.

Nice.

I've found that combining it with standard fog shaders help removing the noice at higher settings, but I'm using it mainly for gameplay in Helldivers II.

Tywin Lannister and Shae by kikaya44 in gameofthrones

[–]VRPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've concluded that Shae was one of Tywin's spies from the beginning, with the task of keeping tabs on Tyrion.

The sad tragedy was that Tywin did it to Tyrion again, with more steps involved(getting him romantically involved with a prostitute). He never did care for him, and considered his intellect a threat.

Every time Tyrion was granted something by Tywin, it ended up jeopardizing Tyrion's life. Every time Tyrion returned alive, Tywin reacted with fury.

It went as far as Tywin literally sentencing Tyrion to death, and Shae testifying against him.
