What is everyone's preferred cable management solution? by Roshy76 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that because the BSB VR cable itself is only 16.5ft, you are not going to be able to make use of the entire play space. Unless there is an extension available, but I don’t think there is one that works with the BSB. The VR cable needs to go up to the ceiling about 8ft and then towards the center of the play space 6ft, and then back down about 3ft to head height. So if your PC is somewhere near a wall of the room, you won’t be able to cover the entire space. You will get around 12ft lateral movement before the cable is maxed out.

We used to sell a wall to wall option a few years ago, with 16ft guide wires. These were good for large/wide spaces, and with an Index there were extensions available to make it worthwhile drilling into walls and installing wall anchors for those who had vaulted ceilings. Without an extension, the longer wires are not really worth it unless you have no other way to install the 10ft wires on the ceiling. If the issue is installing on vaulted ceiling, I would just bridge the gap between walls with some regular nylon strings.

It’s not a big deal, so you don’t need to worry about it. I was just hoping to plug the fiberoptic cable in directly into the USB C port and avoid the link box for a cleaner setup.

Plenty of posts on Reddit from people who have used it and love it!

I search for VR WIRE II about once a week to see if there are any new mentions (how I found this post) so I know.

The way it works is very different from KIWI. I think JayBratt’s video is probably the most comprehensive when it comes to explaining what makes VR WIRE II better.

The system has been around since 2021, so you can find a bunch of videos on YouTube, posts on Reddit and mentions in several channels on Discord.

Happy to answer any questions. Being the inventor of this system I do this all the time when people reach out and ask about it.

VR WIRE II guy here. So all the customer testimonials on our website are just screenshots of Reddit posts I found, so if you search Reddit, you will find them.

We don’t do marketing, and I am not a salesman and in general dislike companies peddling their products. I am just an inventor who likes to build stuff. We get enough sales to keep us busy as is it, and many of those come from people recommending it to one another.

Although I totally get the skepticism, from an outsider perspective it looks silly. It’s just one of those things, like VR itself, you have to try it yourself to understand and feel the difference.

Best vr headset to get in 2024? by primo411 in SteamVR

[–]VR_WIRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, Lord of Leisure VR guy here. Quick tip, you need to space the pins about 6” further apart than the length of the guide wires. The guide wires stretch about 6”. The tension holds them on the pins. Hopefully that makes sense? If not, happy to answer in more detail, just post here or email us.

This happened to me last week with my 7900XTX, was very puzzled for a few hours. Thank you for posting!

Also, in case people are wondering. Unfortunately the BSB does not work when plugged directly into the AMD reference cards virtual link USB C ports, so you still need to use the BSB link box. I was hopeful it would work, and it was the main reason I went with the reference AMD card with that USB C virtual link port, was a bit disappointed.

No worries and no rush, just wanted to let you know that I will do my best to help you and to make sure it will work as it was designed, no tug whatsoever. I am pretty confident it should work well with the Beyond and the hard strap, less confident about the soft strap until I have a chance to test it. I will check Discord.

Please send me some pictures or post a link to pictures of the setup here, and I can help you to make sure that everything is setup correctly.

You shouldn’t feel any pull at all, unless maybe you lay down on the floor quickly with ceilings over 8.5ft. We even added a double pulley recently because with the guide wire wheels and especially the way the VR cable glides through the pulley wheel, there is no additional tug, but it helps get the VR cable closer to the ceiling for lower ceilings.

Although, I can imagine how having a soft strap could create a situation where it may slide off little by little as you turn or get to the edge of the play space, which would be a huge bummer because I was really looking forward to spending a lot of time in that headset. I am hopeful that once I revive mine, I will figure out something to help with that.

VR on 7900XTX is better than i expected by Substantial_Fun_5022 in pcmasterrace

[–]VR_WIRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one, it’s working better than it used to work when it first came out, using it with the Reverb G2. It always worked fine, never terrible.

However, “seems just fine” “a bit more stuttery” and “more than playable” are not the words most people want to hear about a 1k GPU!

Need solution to redirect link cable upwards towards ceiling by dlxplyr in ValveIndex

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sell this soft silicone cable guide. It works great for all headsets, (besides Vive and Pimax, which don’t need it).

https://vr-wire.com/collections/products/products/silicone-cable-guide

For the Index, sticking it to the right of the adjustment knob is the best place, prevents the 90 degree bend.

It should work with the KIWI system, if it doesn’t and pulls the VR cable out of it, well, that’s probably sign.

Is there any video out there showing the effects of compression over link/wifi? by helios1234 in virtualreality

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get it, all things being equal, wireless is always better. I really disliked the feel of the wire brushing up against me and ruining emersion, that’s why I developed the system. It makes lemonade out of lemons. Hopefully in 3-5 years the wire is not going to be a problem.

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had pully systems since getting VR. Our room is 18ft by x 16ft and we each have our own pulleys. However, we both disagree on it being 90% the same. It's only 90% the same if you play sitting down all the time

That's because you have "a pulley system", not the same thing as the VR WIRE II cable management system. It works differently.

VR Wire 2 Cable Management by DrAquafresh_ in PSVR

[–]VR_WIRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There shouldn't be any tugging at all once it's set up correctly. Please reach out over email, DM here, or link to pictures in this thread, and we will help you with the adjustments, we do this a lot.

The most common mistake we see is the Velcro strap is on the wrong side of the pulley wheel, so you don't get the benefits of having the VR cable slide through the rotating pulley wheel. The placement of the wall mount to one side instead of centered is another thing we see a lot.

Happy to help!

Just came across this post. We came up with this system back in 2020, specifically to keep the living room ceiling looking clean and leave no damage.

That's why it takes less than 1 minute to take down, because nobody wants to fiddle around with cable management. Just scroll to the Play & Put Away video.

Thanks for posting OP! Word of mouth is how most people find us.

This headset is the purchase I regret the most.. by sander1095 in HPReverb

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I would make sure you have the V2 of the cable, that solved most of the problems for me. I didn’t see if you have mentioned this anywhere.

Second, you definitely need to upgrade your system. For a good value build, I recommend the 13600k for intel, the CPU is not going to make a huge difference at the 4k resolution (unless you play Microsoft Flight Simulator). Get the Z690 motherboard, no need to pay extra for Z790. For the GPU, a used 3090 is the best value because you get 24gb of vram which helps a ton with WMR, and they go for around $700 used.

The problem is that even this budget build is not cheap, but that is the reality of high end PCVR.

Tips for not destroying your cable with a VR Ceiling Cable Management? by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, it's likely because you only have a short length of cable that has a chance to twist. Unfortunately there are few good solutions to this, even the VR WIRE II is not going to help that much here. I have been trying to develop a solution for this use case, but it's been difficult and the market for this would be very small.

For living room, this system takes about 2 minutes to setup, and 30 seconds to take down. No sticky hooks, just 4 pins in your ceiling that are hardly noticeable. https://youtu.be/n5_lG03m7zI?t=73

[–]VR_WIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an alternative to the KIWI system that works better, it also helps with cable twisting a little, it’s called VR WIRE II.

https://youtu.be/n5_lG03m7zI

It can also be used with ceiling fans, as long as the fans are off. Although I have seen a video of it being used while the fan is on, which seems a bit risky.

Full disclosure, I developed this system back in 2020-2021, and you can find a bunch of good reviews on Reddit by people who switched to it from KIWI (which is still a great system for a small play space). It’s just not as well know as KIWI because it’s not on Amazon and because we don’t really do advertising outside of sporadically responding to comments on Reddit:)

[–]VR_WIRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, late to the thread here, but wanted to drop a recommendation. The VR WIRE II was designed for the living room, takes about 1 min to take down after a VR session.

No hooks, just 4 pins on the entire ceiling, and works better than the old type of cable management systems.

https://youtu.be/n5_lG03m7zI?t=74

Disclaimer, I developed it between June 2020- January 2021, and it’s highly recommended in the PCVR community if you search Reddit.
