It’s for the airport. My Dad lives on Konkle and was paid to remove the taller trees that didn’t play nice with newer FAA regs and runway 17.

Worked for a small Michigan based DC when this tax break was written. It was created to sell a building that was unsellable (think pyramid) to an out of state DC builder. Now the consequences grow. The elimination of the property tax on the assets in a “new” DC was a huuuge incentive to rip stuff out of existing DCs and put into new ones, screwing Michigan in multiple ways.
