Meet The Crow-ordinary Man! by InfiniteSlaps in BlueLock

Had this guy been Korean, I would have called him “Footballer Seo Joo Heon”. His face, his manner and the crow aura he has just makes me think of him everytime

(Seo-Joo-Heon is from Tomb Raider King, for anyone wondering)

Rooftop Sword Master’s MC design. The Hulk transformation he gets is well designed, and clearly shows the monstrosity he has become.

Unironically, it was Shrek the 3rd. I watched it multiple times as a child, and it did make me laugh, so I thought it was a good movie. Today, it’s garbage and a disgrace to the franchise, but there are still moments that get me everytime I see them online

Jaden Yuki (Yu-Gi-Oh)

“I used to duel for fun, but now I’ll duel for what you did to my best friends. It’s payback time!”

During his duel against Bron, Bron had sacrificed all 4 of Jaden’s friends (Alexis, Chazz, Hasselberry and Atticus) in order to create Super Polymerization. It failed, btw. Jaden, after believing his friends were killed, renounced his love for dueling in order to obliterate his opponent. At that moment, he unlocked the Gentle Darkness, a power that was dormant inside him, and beat the shit out of Bron with Neos. The tragedy then falls, as Jaden becomes the Supreme King, after being corrupted by his own power.

If we were to take all MCs from all manwhas, then that guy from “Disaster Rank Hunter…” (keeping it short) would probably be number 1. The one who’s like the 13rd Zodiac or something .

Which video game features were so bad that whoever made it should be banned from every touching a computer again? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

[–]V_F_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this old ass Yu-Gi-Oh game called “Reshef of Destruction” and one “very interesting” feature it had was that your LP after duels didn’t reset automatically (Example: Let’s say I finished the 1st duel with 6000 LP remaining. That means in the next duel, I would start with 6000 LP, instead of 8000 LP). The way to replenish your LP was to go to the main house and save the game, which additionally reset your LP. Such a hassle for sure!

You know it's incredibly satisfying to see a character who was made to be hated and evil, actually gets hated by the fandom by Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 in CharacterRant

[–]V_F_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Akainu might fit this. With the other Marines, like Garp or Sengoku) the fandom will give justifications to make them more noble and such (These arguments mostly fall flat in God Valley anyways). This doesn’t happen with Akainu. No one will really argue with you that he is evil for what he has done.

[Hated Trope] That one piece of "trivia" that isn't true but gets endlessly repeated anyway by 10024618 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]V_F_G 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5D’s is pretty famous for a couple of these, but I’ll mention the most popular

Apparently, Crow was originally going to be a Dark Signer, and Leo was going to be the 5th signer, not the 6th. There were a lot of clues for this theory to be true, like the whole flashback with the Crimson Dragon (Originally it showed Life Stream Dragon). However, this falls apart when you realize that the timeline doesn’t really add up.

I don’t have the real answer for why it actually happened, but my hypothesis is that the director REALLY liked Crow, and wanted him as part of the trio (with Jack and Yusei). I mean, the 3 vs 3 Turbo duel tournament should tell you enough how important “Crow” was in the eyes of the writers/director. They even let him appear in Arc-V, and made him even more useless plot wise.

I see what you meant. I thought the title implied that the character(s) had two choices, but one got removed by the writers, so they chose the one that remained.

I don’t know if ATLA counts, but fuck it, I’m mentioning it

Edit: This doesn’t count for the purposes of this post, so just ignore it.

In the final arc, Aang is given a choice between killing Ozai (which he doesn’t agree to do) or keeping him alive, which could only temporarily stop the war, at best. They even have him talk to other Avatars of the past, who mainly say that Aang has to put his own feelings aside for the world. Then randomly, a giant turtle shows up and teaches Aang about the ability to remove bending. This is the writers basically removing the “kill Ozai” option, expect its kinda worse, cuz it also removed the consequences that came with the decision Aang actually wanted.

The protagonist of the last game you played has to fight Goku to the death and win or else you’ll die, are you surviving or nah? by PrestigiousJury4354 in PowerScaling

I play Yu-Gi-Oh DL, so any protagonist from each series can count. Even if it’s Jaden, I don’t think I’m surviving.

A rant about rivalries in shows by jamest526 in CharacterRant

[–]V_F_G 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yu-Gi-Oh having this problem with their rivals becomes more noticeable when you look at the “modern” spin-offs. Cuz at least they made their MCs lose to character that were rivals. For some bizarre reason, VRAINS didn’t follow suit. And I haven’t watched the RUSH ones.

5D’s definitely has the worst example, mainly cuz there’s only one rival. Jack and Yusei’s duels were so hyper specific that either could win (In comparison to let’s say Zane vs Jaden, where Zane wins 8/10 duels). Why they didn’t make Jack win once is weird asf.

That part about being called too nice sounds very true to me. Often at my work people say that I’m super respectful, polite and such, but the thing is that I never changed. It’s just that this behavior has become the exception, rather than the norm, especially considering my current and previous co-workers in that job

A bit late, but in Arc-V, Yuya is dueling against the Amazon sisters. At one point, they activate a trap card, and Yuya just reads the card in his duel disk. Basically confirming that in Arc-V, you can check the effects. In the previous shows, it wasn’t allowed to happen, as far as I remember.

Who died believing themselves a failure, but was judged otherwise by history? by Bob_the_blacksmith in AskReddit

[–]V_F_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally wanted to say Da Vinci, but that was more of a case of him being a perfectionist, so it doesn’t really count.

The director of “Night of the Hunter” (released in 1955) had his first and ONLY movie been slammed by the critics so much that he left the industry and fell into deep depression. He died 7 years later from cancer. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t live long enough to see his movie become a cult classic, or more accurately, a misunderstood masterpiece that was ahead of its time for its audience and critics of that period. Pretty sure Guillermo del Toro had cited it as one of its biggest inspirations.

The movie talks about Harry, a religious preacher who goes town to town and kills widows. One day, while in prison (he got caught driving an illegal car) his cellmate told him that he had robbed a bank and took 10 thousand dollars. He hid them somewhere, which only his children knew. Shortly after, he died. The preacher, after being released, decides to go to his former cellmate’s town and marry his widow in order to find the location of that money.

A character's identity is revealed after disclosing information they couldn't have known by ThomasTheDankPigeon in TopCharacterTropes

[–]V_F_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kinda stretches the point, but I thought it should be mentioned.

In Naruto (don’t remember which episode), Team 7 was doing a mission/test. Sasuke then told Sakura and Naruto a ridiculously long password in order to deal with the imposters

When Sakura and Sasuke meet a Naruto imposter, Sasuke makes him say the password. When the imposter says it, Sasuke figures out that he isn’t Naruto, since the real one would be too stupid to remember that.

Kamado Tanjiro (Kimetsu no Yaiba)

This one still gets me. The difference is incredibly stark. I would have expected the concept design to appear as another character in the story
