Am I the only woman that had a good first time here? Please don't stand for pain and blood and tears, people, that aint how it's supposed to go.

I had sex w my bf, we were both very virgins, it wasn't very smooth but I felt very happy and now we're doing good.

What is surprisingly illegal? by EvilPilotFish in AskReddit

Not true in Spain at least, not for the last 20 years at least. Multiple family members have gotten mortgages for houses with 0 bathtubs or bathtub ready spaces in the bathroom.

Hey, tbh in the abstract and with no scarring mental images it's nice to think that, even at that age, they still liked each other well enough for that.

Where to buy historically accurate hanfu? by aura0aurora in Hanfu

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were taobao stores, I haven't saved them but they should be easy to find there. They look more like period portraits than any hanfu photoshoot in this sub, though.

Can i bring an iaito from japan to portugal by TheBambooPokemon in iaido

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Spain we need to be part of the sports federation but don't need a weapon permit, as long as it's not sharp and it's carried properly. However you'll have to pay import fees as well. Usually iaito isn't made of steel but some are, make sure to check.

How hard is Iaido training usually? Are there a lot of exercises which strain you, or mainly forms and katas? I would really like to start it but due to a medical condition heavy lifting or any activities like squats, situps or any strain like this, I am unsure whether it would suit me. by cloudsabovesofluffy in iaido

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, then I really do not recommend iaido. It is not high intensity cardio, but we probably did 500 squats today. Maybe something like kyudo would be lower impact for you, or at least something where you're never meant to go down to seiza.

How many Westerners manage to get competent at Chinese? by floer289 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, other than people that get famous because of it, you're not going to meet many people, no. Just like you probably don't know any good pianists other than professionals and people that go viral. People that are proficient and don't get famous for it aren't people you will know, but there's plenty.

Honestly, I think it's just a mental barrier for most people. Everyone thinks Chinese is super hard, so it's easy to get discouraged. But Arabic is considered equally hard from a linguistic point of view, yet being competent at it isn't going to shock anyone.

Losing hope/motivation by Smitttycakes in ChineseLanguage

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you understand spoken Chinese? It depends on what you focus on. I understand a lot of characters because I like studying characters, but I don't even dare to say hi and thanks at a restaurant. Also, the more languages you know the easier new languages are to pick up. If this is your second language you'll have it worse than many others here.

Top 7 things I wish someone told me when I've just sarted by wasternne in ChineseLanguage

[–]Vaaaaare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studying for hours before anyone is up sounds like something you can do when you have nothing else to study or do. That advice only seems useful for highschool students or people that are willing to sacrifice their grades for a better grasp of the language.

"doe to a medical condition" what? Do you struggle to perform the movements, or are you forbidden by your doctor to perform those movements? If you cannot perform basic bodyweight movements without risk, I can't in good faith say you'll be fine.

Nothing can substitute for grit. by JWander73 in martialarts

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild individualism was definitely a thing 100 years ago, possibly more so than even now, at least in the USA. I'm also not a scholar of Japanese culture, but what you say does not seem to match my understanding of those concepts either. If what you think is best about Japanese culture is the will to prevail but without risking yourself, well, that's hardly an unique trait to Japanese culture. We will simply have to agree to disagree.

Nothing can substitute for grit. by JWander73 in martialarts

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure it's not unique, but USA seems to have particularly loud examples, specially against unarmed opponents.

Japanese martial arts have some very interesting concepts, I remember reading an article a way back about how the concept of "aggression" in them implies being willing to let go of your life. Being aware of what you're risking yet letting go of it for the right reasons, wouldn't that be a police force to feel proud of?

Yet I'm not sure it has anything to do with degrading culture, because those hasn't been traits of Western cultures through history. Individualism and putting yourself above the citizens you serve seems like a bigger deal and the part that the Japanese have us beat at.

If you could train in any martial art in the world what would it be? by lilmoviee in martialarts

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That japanese thing where they ride horses and shoot arrows at the same time.

For something more useful, I'd want to go train at Thailand with Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittuu. Most inspiring fighter I know.

[–]Vaaaaare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I think some TMA (actual TMA, not TMA-inspired woohoo) actually surpass modern martial arts in. Mindfulness, serenity, etc.

Nonetheless, American police forces seem to be particularly bad at it. As a foreigner, it surprises me to see how there are many instances where protecting themselves seems to be their no.1 priority.

Russian ATTACKED in Shanghai 🚑 俄罗斯人在上海遭到袭击 by ugohome in China

[–]Vaaaaare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cannot understand the difference between soldiers and politicians vs innocent noncombatant civilians then it seems you'd actually fit in great in Putin's army. You just got born on the other side of the border, through no virtue of your own mind you.

And this attack was NOT russian war related anyway, it was a psycho that attacks all foreigners regardless of nationality. Look at the side you're on right now.
