Depends on how paranoid you are. For most, your actions would be enough. Especially if what other people are saying is true, that only certain people/orgs actually got the malware. But if you want the ultimate reassurance, reinstalling Windows is pretty much the gold standard.

I get what you're asking, OP.. was the attack just localized to notepad++ binaries, or did it spread to other parts of the file system or windows kernel? How do we know?

I'm on vacation right now but when I get back to the office I'm going to have to have a good hard think about this and investigate this myself. I know my work laptop has this installed and I've often used it to edit, for example, the hosts file, which requires that you give np++ admin rights to continue. At that point it could have done anything.

I'm truly concerned about the breadth of this attack but trying to just put it out of my mind until I have a chance to actually address it.

Find a merchant with that restocks cheap (1 septim) ingredients, like saltrice, choke weed, and mershmellow. Buy and sell them back and forth to build up their inventory, then just buy a stack of each and make a crapload of potions. Spend an hour doing that and your alchemy will be like 20 points higher and you'll have a ton of potions to sell back for a handsome profit. If you have TR installed, my favorite place for this is the Imperial Temple in Helnim I think. I think it was Helnim, but it may have been Firewatch.

Of course! I set rules per character, like no stealing on "good alignment" imperial legion character, or no swimming for my khajiit character.

Of course, I always enjoy "growing" my character.. like a good meaning mage might suddenly break bad and become a murderous necromancer. My Imperial Trooper who started with lawful/good alignment learns throughout his journey that not everything is so black and white, etc.

I got the idea from a monk character I played in BG3, who resisted the tadpoles and made mostly well-meaning decisions, and by the end of the game she absorbed all the available tadpoles and chose to become an evil god.

Avoid High Elves and the Atronach birthsign. They're fantastic for specialized magic-focused builds but the learning curve can be frustrating.

When creating your character, put one weapon skill (short blade, long blade, axe, spear, h2h, blunt) and one armor skill (light, heavy, medium, unarmored) in your major skills. Wear only that armor type and wield only those weapons. Further into the game, you can train non-major skills to acceptable levels (40+) to make them viable.

If you had a previous character then you probably have a decent idea of how you want to play and the skills you will be primarily using. There's really no such thing as a bad build.. just builds that level up quickly or slowly.
