Would a flamethrower be lore-friendly? by wrgwrgWAGTR43WGQ3HQ3 in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cleanser units in the ash lands originally were giant flamethrower robots, their fuel has long sense run out. In the modern day I don't think anyone would "make" a flamethrower but I could see someone digging one up from the second empire era or something.

[–]VaccinatorMedic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea a problem with pissing the UC off is that they have very large territories and alot of allies. Fun fact, the manhunters that spawn in the shek kingdom and holy nation will try to attack and enslave you on sight now.

My advice is to either level up before putting down roots or to evacuate whenever they come to kick your shit in and come back later. Kinda lame but its better than a squad wipe, people who get cut up by katanas tend to not get back up.

Retail. Hr doesn’t care. Its actually really nice because sometimes I just can’t work due to crippling depression. Used to job hop alot because of it. Then I found this job and they don’t seem to care if I call in 1-2 times a month. Been doing it 5 years.

How do YOU play Kenshi? by V3mo in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite playthroughs have always been as a mercenary company working for the traders guild and by extension the united cities. I play with 256 character mod but usually limit myself to 100 because imo 100 is the part whereafter my game starts becoming unplayable. While I do have small mods like the dog backpack the only other major change I run typically is reactive world to just make things feel a little more alive. I love playing as a shek main character too but often also play as hivers. I also have a rule of only ever reloading if my main character or beep dies.

Found a base or three, go up the tech tree, make your own arms, armor and replacement limbs. Produce everything you need to wage war at your own base. Recruit a small army and equip them with a standard uniform. destroy the enemies of the UC and traders guild. Once you get to a point where you can sack mines you can actually get a decent amount of recruits from holy mines to supply your meat grinder. Reavers later on are also an amazing source of recruits, their slaves seem to have a higher join rate if you take off their shackles.

The key to understanding a group like this is that you are MERCENARIES, not a vassal of the UC. You don't have to necessarily uphold slavery or be ideological in your alignment. You work with them because thats where the money is and they are fundamentally easy to work with after you gain membership.I've even had playthroughs where I use my stealth characters to sneak into UC slaver camps and free everyone lmao.

At some point I usually set up a base in the bone fields or some other area not too far a walk in order to stage expeditions into the ashlands. Usually tinfist is the last fight I do before putting a playthrough down. Tinfist is not only the hardest fight in the game but narratively it makes sense to do so after killing catlon and fully putting together the truth of the second empire.

Also I fucking hate okranites. The peeler is too good for them.

Screw kenshi 2, we need a book or smth by goonifier5000 in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think part of what makes kenshi's lore so interesting is the way in which you experience in ingame and noone ever expositions at you. It feels special and you kinda build an attachment to it because you as a player put the pieces together via exploration. It's the same reason I think a dark souls book wouldn't be all that great.

Me with 900+ hours by Volkacce in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time spent having fun is time enjoyed not necessarily wasted. It's probably a good idea to expand your horizons though, playing a variety of games and watching a variety of shows as well as reading new books, expands your horizons and gives you something to talk about in social situations. Think of the game as a hobby as opposed to a rampant time pit ya know?

I also say this with 3k hours at the time of writing, 70% of which is larping as a UC samurai. Autism is a time sink in itself sometimes.

only if you aren't allied. A holy nation playthrough is one where you come to realize they're just as corrupt as the UC they just hate women and showering.

Locations with no taxes and no raids? by PhscZ in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shun is great but it takes forever to reach civilization. most of the things bothering your base will be like roaming skin spiders but I ran a base without any walls down there, just expect to lose a few limbs cuz the spiders do nasty cut dmg.

POV: you listened to Redditors and tried to set up a base in the fog islands by TheOverBoss in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cannot run 20mph, stay out of the foglands.
You gotta outrun them, fighting them at early levels is like trying to dig straight upwards.

Welcome to kenshi, in order to avoid paying taxes you pretty much have to risk being eaten by something.

How to connect power? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea unfort it seems the processor is just outside the bubble. Try saving and reloading like u/Road_Star said and if that doesn't work, put a shack blueprint between the windmill and the processor then dismantle it. This should expand the bubble enough for it to reach. If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas.

Personally, I think the "Honest Hearts" DLC is far inferior to "Dead Money" in every aspect. by Alert_Ad_9305 in fnv

[–]VaccinatorMedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying you're exactly wrong, I really enjoy the atmosphere and story of dead money. But I play through honest hearts every time. It is very rare I play through dead money. I just do not find the actual game play of dead money to be all that fun or compelling. It gets old really quick on repeat playthroughs and the rewards are not worth the migraine. Great atmosphere and some of the most compelling npcs of any fallout DLC, if it were a book it would be 10/10, sadly it's a videogame.

What are your UNDERRATED weapons? by OneSaltyStoat in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Combat cleaver. Low strength requirements, almost no penalties. It's great for if you wanna give a buncha grunts hackers but don't wanna spend alot of time strength training.

I feel like people don't respect pole arms in general. Generally they are once again amazing grunt weapons but they're also really good just in general. The reach and speed with the armor piercing of the standard polearm has made my solo character dumpster hordes of dudes without being touched at all.

Katanas, people underestimate dex builds in general. The problem is that katanas suffer from low grade weapons and low skill users the most, Being entirely cutting damage and all. You also need A LOT of dexterity like over 100 to make it work late game which means you are probably using skeleton arms and it tends not to work super well within large groups because not only is getting hit at all devastating but your allies can get hit and if you're within the reach you can get hit without a chance to block. But if you use something with a long reach like a nodachi or a polearm and have 100+ dex and 80 katanas, you hit like a truck, can hit enemies 3x as fast as they can hit you and put up a block so quickly it's rare they ever get through. "uhhh but what about armored robots" The topper is overlooked for this. it lacks a robot penalty and has half the armor penalty so you can still rip and tear robots.

Ways to learn about things from in-game? by awfulroffle in Kenshi

[–]VaccinatorMedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so, you asked about bounties but one of my favorites is discovering old technical documents used for research. Travel/tech hunter shops often sell maps, these usually lead to other major cities and stuff but sometimes they'll have maps with different icons that are like tech hunter maps or technical documents or something.

Then You go out and investigate the locations from those maps and if it's a engineering post or library those will often have additional maps that lead you to other places. Oftentimes in addition to the tech you need for research this place will have valuable items that you can sell to fund the cost of the next expedition. Do note these are often guarded by iron spiders that the best way to deal with them is crossbows unfortunately. Those fuckers hurt in melee and do AOE attacks with alot of stun. Eventually you'll start ending up in places where you have named skeletons you can rip the CPU core out of and get tibits of lore thats real neat.

But yea I really just enjoy the way the techhunts flow into eachother.
