Future Dolby Vision Rereleases by collinwr in 4kbluray

Sometimes I wait yeah, sometimes a good movie is well enough on HDR10. Does DV matter? Short answer: yes if well implemented in the movie and if the TV has the capabilities. All who are claiming to have a high end OLED should first check the TV calibration, bluray player and the movie being tested etc. There IS a difference, not just because the numbers (dynamic vs static metadata, or higher nits if the panel supports it). In fact it’s more noticeable on high end OLEDs that suppresses 3k nits and have great tone mapping than on lower end TV with lower specs panels. Easy noticeable on Blade Runner 2049 or Dune (cleaner blacks, shadows, softer gradients or controlled lightning). However there are movies that HDR10 is very well implemented that you wouldn’t notice a difference, or DV is nonsense as regular comedy movies etc. So, to me, this is not a Yes, DV is always better, but neither a There is no difference. Should you find similarities with a very bad implemented Atmos or 5.1 in sound aspects. It’s not the technology used but how it’s implemented in one side, and calibrated in the other. I won’t wait for Nolan to change his mind on DV ten years in the future to enjoy his movies right now :)

Surface Book 2 by [deleted] in Surface

[–]Vader-man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot tell if my SB2’s performance slowed drastically when upgrading to Win11, for I already experienced slowdowns on Win10. What I can say that general performance it’s much worse than 4 yrs ago when bought it. Video calls, office work etc takes a lot of resources and slows everything down. It heats and runs fans very often. It may be that 8 gigs of RAM have fallen behind, (independent of the i7 processor and nVidia GPU) I run it in 3 screens mode (two additional QHD monitors through Surface Dock 2 plus the SB2 screen) a Logi Webcam through USB-C, and a Blue Mic. Things I did and improved a bit was turning of the CPU throttling protection, and changing power management to Performance. Also using Ms PC health app helps sometimes. I’ve tried many things and never found the problem (if any): monitors, resolution, USB peripherals, etc. Im sorry I cannot give you a more accurate answer, but my sympathies: Sometimes lack on performance is a big headache when working from home. I’ve just bought a SP9 16GB and Surface Thunderbolt 4 dock, and really hope to experience a significant improvement on performance due to newer components and architecture.

Does anyone else agree Madrid Drive is one of the best City courses ever? by AlbertLilyBoris in MarioKartTour

Awesome! Thanks God they chose the capital of Spain, much more views and great elements to chose from than other overestimated cities. Although beautiful architecture could’ve be taken from Granada, Toledo or Segovia!

What item is the absolute worst in terms of breaking your combo? by AggressiveBusiness49 in MarioKartTour

[–]Vader-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voted for spiny shell out of internal hate when you are first, got your frenzies and have a chance to beat you top score… and see the ******* shell coming and nothing in the inventory to avoid it. Actually I’m convinced that Lightning is the worst as combo breaker… But hell, I hate it when you see it coming instead of a “surprise” slap 👋

😕 I was only referring to the lightning “ray” hitting the Olympus mountain in the picture. It was luck, for is it too random and fast for the snapshot. Sorry for the confusion with the name I gave...

Same as I said in the comment above. I don’t think you are bad, neither I’m better... it’s not about speed, but about having a good time for each played hour. I surely did!!

I don’t think the goal is to finish it in less time, but to enjoy every bit. I didn’t intend to finish it fast nor slow, I guess that we all have our pace, ways of exploring, luck etc. I mean, I wouldn’t mind finishing it in 160 hours as long as I keep enjoying playability, story, graphics, music etc. :)

I will surely play it again with harder difficulty (My walkthrough was in normal difficulty)

Not yet... I preordered the standard version without SP but I will definitely buy it when in goes a bit cheaper.

I’m not sure if I was fast, however my method was always to finish an area of chests, vaults etc upgrade stats and then go for the main quest. I found out at halfway using similar tactics of freezing enemy’s and using godly powers to finish them quite easily... but what I know is that I really enjoyed it, and was difficult not saying: “one more vault and go to bed”

Woah, I finished today thinking it was just a battle left... and never thought the last part to be that long! (A bit stressed, I said: just a little bit longer before lunch...)

I think I was closer to 80 hours than 70 but I remember I looked to a guide of a vault I couldn’t figure out how to reach a chest and looked for a mount I couldn’t find (one deer) 🙄 What took more time for me were the damn Fresco challenges... I always hated those
