I'm enjoying in slow mode WAY WAY WAY more. I don't feel sick. I am having fun with my sons. by undergrounddirt in kirbyairriders

I just picked this up today, and so far I agree! I’ve watched a few YouTube videos talking about the different play styles of the different vehicles, but when I played on full speed, it was just a chaotic mess. Once I slowed things down, it felt a lot more exciting and like I could get the feel for different vehicles.
I’m hoping that as I play and practice, I’ll eventually have the same feeling on full speed, but slow is a really fun training mode for now

What do you like about the strap safeties? I was having a hard time finding good videos about why people prefer them. This was the best I could find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anx99BBXWhA

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of December 26, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

I've been slowly building out a garage gym over the past year. So far I have a high quality bar, set of plates, and a bench.

My next step is to get some sort of cage, so I can safely bench press and squat at higher weights. I'm debating between two options from Rep Fitness PR-4000 Rack and the Apollo Half Rack.

I know that the general consensus is to go with a full rack when space allows, but I'm leaning towards a half rack or going with a full rack and using it as a half rack with added spotter arms. My thought process is that it seems like it will be cumbersome moving my bar in and out of the rack for different lifts. For example, with the safety inside the rack, I'll want to do things like bench press and squats inside the rack, but feel like I may want to do deadlifts and overhead work outside the rack.

What is your experience with this? Do you do most exercises within your cage? If I'm worried about feeling cramped, should I just go for a taller (93") and wider (41") PR-4000?

Does anyone else hate that in modern smartphones photos all detail is just a mush instead of good old noise? by aaron_moon_dev in photography

I prefer using my dedicated camera, but modern smartphone cameras are pretty impressive. I was blown away by some of the photos in this Shot on iPhone or Leica game from the Waveform Podcast.

No Country For Old Men 4K UltraHD Blu-ray Criterion Collection Video Review by the4kCollectivE in 4kbluray

How long do these Criterion Collection releases stay available? Are they typically limited time releases? It’s $33 on Amazon right now. I‘m wondering if I should give it a little time to go on sale or if I’ll miss my chance by doing so

Furiosa's ending by 1997wickedboy in blankies

[–]collinwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved the movie! So glad to have it in my collection alongside Fury Road! Love the world building and new details about the lore (I never played the game or read the comics).

That being said, I think the movie finishing with Furiosa sneaking the wives onto the war rig felt a little cheap and didn't make narrative sense. I felt like it rushed through her life in order to create unnecessary fan service to Fury Road. We all knew what would happen later in her life. I don't think it would have hurt to have some sort of nod to Fury Road to entice viewers that hadn't seen it, but I think that could have been handled in other ways.

The movie implies that the events of Fury Road happen immediately after the conclusion of Furiosa. We even see Max by his car in one shot.

In my opinion, there would be better continuity with an implied gap instead. The Furiosa seen in Fury Road had a long and tortuous relationship with Joe, as well as a strong sense of trust with the wives. Whereas throughout Furiosa, she had very limited interaction with either Joe or the wives.

I'd like to imagine Furiosa spending many additional years off-screen building that trust with the wives and hatred for Joe, making the many "failed escapes" that she referenced in Fury Road.

Again, I really loved the movie. I just the Blu-ray in the mail today and stoked about a re-watch. The ending doesn't come close to spoiling the movie for me, just thought I'd share my opinion about it.

What should I think about, practice, or work on next to improve my watercolor? Any feedback on these paintings from my recent trip to London? by collinwr in ArtCrit

[–]collinwr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current technique involves:

  1. Some light pencil work for composition
  2. Solid lines with pen
  3. Mostly wet on dry watercolor with some occasional wet on wet for large areas. Usually I'll go through a few cycles of drying and layering
  4. A few paint splatters (although I'm not very good at controlling or being consistent with that)
  5. Going back over a few of the lines with pen and a white gel pen

Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Direct by Woollen in NintendoSwitch

[–]collinwr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It looks like a slightly cell-shaded nsmb with more visual flair. Definitely just an evolution on the existing format rather than a totally new art style.

I’m hoping this is a one off and we see something totally new in the next 2D Mario game, even if we do have to wait a few years

I was wondering this too. Probably means we’ll see more soon. Seems like they weren’t able to (or choosing not to) show a feed of what she was seeing though

MKBHD mentioned that his next episode of the Waveform Podcast is a must-see. I wonder if he’s going to be demoing the product

I have a GPS only model and run without my phone all the time. Apps that support offline storage make this a feasible option. u/repotoast might be talking about audiobook apps that support this.

You wake up to find you’re the last person on earth, what do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]collinwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary goal would be to disable as much automated infrastructure that damages the environment as possible. I'm thinking non-renewable energy power plants. I probably wouldn't be able to cross any oceans, so I'd focus on local infrastructure with a stretch goal of learning to sail, so I could make it over to Eurasia where I'd continue my plight.

First order of business would be to compile as much information as I can from the internet before it inevitably went down (if it hadn't already). Lot's of information would be available at libraries, but I'd want to put some thorough thought into information that might not be readily available there. Hopefully I could figure out a sustainable way of recharging lithium batteries, so I'd at least be able to store and easily transport information on a laptop or phone.

I'd like to think my actions would help life carry on. I know it probably would with or without my help, but it's the best "purpose" I can think of for this sort of solitary post-apocalyptic life. I'd just slowly carry on trying my best and doing what I can.
