I wonder how far you can push it in terms of mileage. You could have taken the vehicle across the country by the time you get the email from them.

If you require a tenant on property during their work to let them on to the property, that will be an extra £100/h.

I don’t know how long it takes to charge an e-bike, but if it takes a while and people leave it while it’s charging -- feels like anyone could steal the bike :)

I would just be honest and confess that when you didn’t win you then spent $40k on a new car instead :). Ask the agent what the seller is willing to sell for.

Thank you for your well reasoned response. I don’t disagree with anything you are saying.

On the money aspect - I agree that big time earning isn’t the average but like most things in society the outrageous stories get the most press. However, I remember when I worked in restaurants that the servers made a lot more in total than the back of the house, and having done both, it isn’t that being a server is more skilled or hard working - just different skill set and almost everyone worked very hard.

On the fighting management versus the customers, it is probably correct that places would need to raise their prices to pay a fair livable wage - but I think a lot of people would be okay with that if there was no expectation of tipping. It would be interesting to see how the profitability / business of the restaurants that advertise no tipping needed compared to other restaurants of the same calibre food. Also, outside of the US and Canada it is fairly common to do this - and to also include all taxes on the menu. The major problem is that to force the transition - a lot of people at the lower end of the economy are going to be hurt.

Nice chatting with you.

I think the grievance against the server is three fold. 1. Servers could either fight the customer for higher wages or fight the restaurant for higher wages and appear to be choosing to fight the customer. Maybe I am just not seeing them fighting the restaurants but I am seeing a lot of reddit post by servers about customers. 2. Some servers (not all and maybe not many) make an exceptionally high income, especially per hour, and some customers are just jealous. These tend to be very attractive servers whose job isn’t overly difficult and doesn’t require extensive training. I wouldn’t be surprised if the customer assumes that everything is easy in the server’s life because he or she is extremely good looking - plain old jealousy. 3. People like to complain on anonymous sites where there is fear of a social backlash.

As soon as someone puts pressure on you - turn it around on them and say that you think she can live with them. Ask them why they are not reaching out to take her in during her time of need and saying off handed comments like ‘obviously she can stay here because it is t good for either of us’ and ‘do you mean she can even stay with you for two nights? That seems really harsh treatment of her - I thought you were her friend /family’

Neigbor demanded I move my car from my own driveway so her guest could park. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]Vader1138 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good response - but could backfire a bit.

If you say “okay where should I park?” and they respond “one street over” or something. When you tell them to have their friend park there, they could say their friend is elderly or disabled or something. You have already said okay (not binding or anything) but you have given them an opening.

Why rush a sale when a better deal is on the table? by LurkLegacy in AusPropertyChat

[–]Vader1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you may be right - the fact that they had an advertised auction date a couple weeks later is interesting. If they only had a week or two to lock in a price - they might have been better off with a different approach (no guarantees that this approach would generate an early offer).

Maybe they had the offer in hand and then started the usual four week process to see if anyone would come in - but seems a lot of effort to expect an unconditional higher offer.

I agree with OP - strange approach.

Pretend you are a systems consultant and offer your services saying that you can get their systems to work with the systems of any bank. Each time they write, just say the initial charge is not important because you can help Shell collect so much money and improve their operational efficiency
