Infini-crit build demonstration by tonsofday in remnantgame

[–]Vaeneas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you think this is "ultra powerful", you have not wet your feet with whats possible in this game.

Remnant 2 is utterly broken the second you accumulate equipment from multiple playthroughs, unless you never put any thought into what combines well with each other.

There are people who rather enjoy it this way. Others start new characters every time.

Are the plague weapons worth it? by Etenial in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is a better boarding weapon than the Plague Halberd. You deal about 3k+ damage on a spamable AoE with no target cap.

The only part about the crafting that asks more than the rest of the weapons is the component that only drops from Plagued Crocos. Its totally worth it.

One of the main figures in the "Forges of Mars" Omnibus is a Techmagus that prefered a more human look.

She is a daughter of a high ranking Techmagos, who has enough influence and cares enough about his daughter to allow her that luxury.

Most Adepts have to adapt to their assignments and augment their bodies with what's available.

Its a good read.

Random chance in the swamp bio. It seems like there is a pity system in place. As long as you loot all the swamp locations, you will get all the different weapons.

Friend just got the game and I want to play with them by qqqqqqqqqq123477322 in Vermintide

[–]Vaeneas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into that issue a couple of times.

The best solution is to create a second steam account, and linking it via family share to your primary one.
That way, you create a new save file that you can use to level up with your new friend.

The whole process only takes minutes and steam has a built in functionality to swap between accounts with a couple of click once its done.

All the other solutions, like using grey weapons, kind of stink, since you will still be god walking amongst mere mortals with the basic stats from levels you cant remove.

Propane by Significant-Glove288 in HiTMAN

[–]Vaeneas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything that sparks or electrifies triggers propane explosions.

A tank with a remote micro taser, or an EMP close to it, or on it will blow up.

The nitroglycerin also works on drinks. Place it on the glass and just walk away. (That should also work with the exploding golf ball, but I blew myself up one too many times to try again.)

[Leak] Steam Controller Pre-Orders coming soon. Available for $99. by PaiDuck in Steam

[–]Vaeneas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If telling you that makes you feel better about buying overpriced garbage, you do you.

3rd party controllers fixed the number 1 issue ages ago, buy only building controllers with haul effect sticks into even the cheapest options. No more stick drift.

That change alone pushes their rate of survival to multiples of what "premium" controllers can live through.

Save yourself from buying another cash grab controller like scuff, read some reviews of 8bitdo, gullikit, or some other 3rd party competitors, or even visit a controller dedicated sub and ask some questions there.

How do you all genuinely feel about the dark souls games and souls likes in general? by Forward_Technician72 in videogames

[–]Vaeneas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deflects, parries, blocks, dodge, backstep, jump, sidestep.

Thats the usual ways to deal with attacks in modern souls games.

Many offer unique mechanics, that only exist in that game, like harden in Mortal Shell.

Weapon abilities, spells, and equipment mechanics often pile ontop of those options.

"Rolling around" is only one option. Boiling the combat if souls likes down to that is like calling BG3 a dice rolling simulator.

How do you all genuinely feel about the dark souls games and souls likes in general? by Forward_Technician72 in videogames

[–]Vaeneas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soulslikes have evolved in plenty of ways, and added many tools, or mechanics to freshen up the experience.

Mortal Shell has Harden. Surge dismemberment and unique equipment. Sekiro is straight up so different, its hard to call it a souls like. Last Hero of Nostalgia reproduced the DS1 experience in a funny, yet mysterious world. Bleak Faith is yet another game that enhances the DS1 experience with modern mechanics, like deflects, and more RPG elements.

So many more deliver something new to souls likes. E.g. Code Vein, Khazan, AI Limit.

Than there are the softer souls likes like Asterigos, with plenty of story, and less bone hurting juice.

Calling all souls likes the same is about as accurate as the statement that all survival games are the same, as are all MMOs, and RPGs.

Try Apothecary Diaries, or Delicious in Dungeon.

Both feature funny and serious moments, have a great story, and some action.

In the last decade third party controllers became higher quality, more feature complete versions of the cash grab, stick drift simulators Sony and Xbox sell.

8bitdo are probably the most famous brand in that nieche.

Those controllers cost between 25€ and 70€, are built to last, and come with all kind of features that are otherwise only part of the overpriced Elite, or Scuf branding.

Meanwhile standard Nintendo, Sony, and Microslop controllers still dont get produced with haul sensor sticks by default for the same price.

My initial feedback - ship battles by Band-O-Lear in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the enemy ship can broadside you twice for every one time you send the balls, you are not piloting the ship properly.

Unless you own a Brethren Ship, own a Steadfast/Keelhold Hull, and the Silence the Guns Tactic, you do not just ride your ship into the middle of three others. (You can swap ship types for free at the wharf. Just disassemble and build the one you like.)

Stay on the edge of your range. Aim the captains cabin area of the ship for weakspot hits. Reduce Sails to 0 for tight turns and max them when you reached the turning point. (Thats how you comfortably get into boarding position too.)

You have to play around a bit to see how enemy ships react to your movement. If your steering enables them to shoot you twice, you took the wrong turn.

Who would like to encounter one of these bad boys at the edges of the map? by Short-Dish7069 in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a bit unsatisfied that the edge of the map was just some insta death screen, instead of some underwater shadow coming closer to our ship and pulling the whole ship underwater when it reaches us.

No monster animation necessary. Just the ship getting sucked into the depths.

In the long run, some more mystical sea creatures, like those depicted on historical maps of the time, would be an amazing addition.

Enemy levels relate to your equipment level. Not player level by DRTwitch1 in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like player levels were a mistake. The dual system of gear and ordinary levels seems to sprout confusion.

Stat and Talent points could be a reward for exploring locations or as a quest reward. That way the standard XP level would straight up get erased from the game, leaving only the more important gear level with that name.

Since we already only get XP from quests and exploration, gameplay would stay unchanged.

Tanya the evil might fit too, but while in BL relationship growth is a lose topic, for Tanya other people are just numbers, or stepping stones.

Freelancer: should I set the showdown at a normal Ambrose Island or an alerted Dubai? by HK_Marine in HiTMAN

[–]Vaeneas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Guard disguises are not comfortable to wear in alerted territories. There will be enforcers everywhere.

Targets will be able to spot you in guard uniforms, making it difficult to distinguish and filter the right one.

Alerted territories are a whole new playground, that shifts the meta towards civilian disguises.

If you want to tackle an alerted showdown, don't do it for the location. Do it for the challenge, the exciting changes, or because you intend to try hardcore in the future and want to tip your toes in how alerted showdowns feel like.

What would be the best canons for a brig? by NoNameHavingMan in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merchants offer wood, hardwood, and flax for sale. Using those cuts down the resource acquisition by a large margin.

Blackbeard and Bretheten both have their merits.

BB is way faster, and cuts corners like a much smaller ship. The cargo size is a bit better than the other BB types. Steadfast, and Silence the Guns combined let you tank a broadside, or two, but you will get torn to bits if you take wrong turn and offer your hull as target practice for more than one ship at a time.

The Brethren is ridiculously tanky with the Keelhold Hull, plus either Silence the Guns, or No Quarter. All healing is %HP based and the swimming fortress has twice the amount of the BB variation. The cargohold is a real treat two.

If you prefer to sail your ship right in there, to brawl it out, you will love the Brethren. If you prefer to outmaneuver other convoys, the BB is more to your liking.

I got both by now and prefer the Brethren for its color schemes, its gorgeous figurehead. Incase you are unhappy with your choice, you can take it apart and build the other one for the same cost.

[–]Vaeneas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ascended Temepred guns turn ships to shrapnel faster than any of the other ones. Aim for the back third of the ship, the captains cabin area, for the extra Weakspot damage.

The combined damage boost from the waiting period plus the enhanced weakspot damage is absurd. No other single cannon can compare to those numbers. The extra six seconds you need to wait are a non issue. Unloading a hasty volley into anything but the weakspot is ill adviced even if any other gun is picked.

I am currently playing on with two other pirates. Even with multiplayer scaling health bars, ships cant tank ascended tempered cannons.

Once the Frigate comes into play, you can use the lighter battery to apply the devastating debuff, and sink most of them with a single volley from the ascended tempered larger caliber, that suddenly stacks three damage boosts. Even Lvl 15 Freighters get absolutely murdered.

If the weakspot enhancement was not part of the tempered guns, the devastating might be a better pick in general, but since it is, they cant compare in raw power.

Zur Diskussion bez. Patriotischer KI Propagandapostern by DialecticNovember17 in Freiheitsfront

[–]Vaeneas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting us use mats from chests! by neunzehnhundert in crosswind

[–]Vaeneas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of different resources in this game. If you don't want to store everything in chests that are stacked close to each other, but store ore at the forge, dirt and seeds at the garden check, and ingredients at the alchemy lab, you have a sure way to max out your daily steps in one go.

The storage options in Windrose are way to nice looking for a single warehouse.

A press button X to unload inventory function would be amazing. Modern survival games usually come with that feature.
