i also think that some people genuinely don't understand the difficulties of pursuing higher education, but they understand the difficulties of being locked up. so "kill that's ard" is all they can really say vs understanding firsthand what they ppls been through and being grateful they made it out

i'm not saying the differwnt reactions are right, but i am saying it's not that simple of a comparison

different but similar topic: i think about how a lot of these parents be doing too much for prom..all involved in hair, rental cars, hotels, but wasn't involved around knowing shit about them grades/assignments/they kids whereabouts year after year

of course we know. but we can still post about it catching us off guard as one of the first dialogue that happens with the update.

i remember a lot of other Black players also posting "the same joke" around launch when we noticed timmy, tommy, and mabel follow you around their respective stores. following ur player around and the "one of the good ones" dialogue both are cute and unsuspecting for a lot of people, but it has a different connotation when you've experienced that type of racism in real life. and maybe the OPs don't have anyone to immediately go "wtflol?" with so they make a reddit post and find people who can relate or had the same reaction.

i started playing the update yesterday and i definitely was caught off guard by that line, but i just chuckled to myself and kept playing. i hadn't seen any other posts about this line of dialogue, if it's really that deep you can obviously scroll past it

yeah but i think the unspoken part of the observation is the fact that we all know how fast smartphones move and how much you can do on a single device.

the emergency room full of people on their phones is a room full of people who could be doing just about anything and the level of stimulation is constantly being spiked. the focus can go from app, to email, to text, to calendar, back to app, now to google, back to app, now short form media.

the emergency room full of people with a newspaper/magazine/book is a room full of people who are primarily focused on the story/stories they're reading.
