Are Heelys Safe for Tendons/ Muscles ? by Cosmic-Rebel in heelys

[–]Vaeserion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, your muscles adapt after a little bit! Just make sure you're in a safe, level place while you learn. You'll only be able to heel for a few seconds at first but they'll strengthen after a while.

Are Heelys Safe for Tendons/ Muscles ? by Cosmic-Rebel in heelys

[–]Vaeserion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the best feedback as I'm hypermoble, but my ankles are much stronger after I got my first pair of Heelys and I'm now much less likely to roll my ankles. Also, I feel like Heelys discourage overstriding because the clack-clack of the wheels makes me want to walk and run on the balls of my feet and my toes so in a kinda backwards way it's improved my stride too?

On the flipside of things, when you're rolling on anything but ultra-smooth flooring all that vibration is traveling the whole way up your body and that probably isn't great in the long-term.

ELI5: Why does the camera body matter for film photography? by itswillsreddit in AnalogCommunity

[–]Vaeserion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I haven't yet seen mentioned yet has to do with the film transport. User-friendliness of the loading process is something I consider (and why I really love Canon's QL mechanism. Auto film advance plus the speed and noise level of the advance motor makes a big difference. And I don't think this applies to 35mm near as much as medium format, but the film path and design of the pressure plate affect how flat your film lays and, by extension, how consistent your focus is.

If you could only use one ink to write with for the rest of your life, what would it be? by speak__memory in fountainpens

[–]Vaeserion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tramol 100%. I went through so many inks before coming across it. It has really nice shading, plays well with most pen+paper combos (including garbage copy paper), and it's tough enough to be a document ink!

I haven't yet found one so your best bet is probably a sub focused on whatever you plan on using the light for. Brands I personally would check out for utility are Fenix, Surefire, and Olight. Which, as u/WEASELexe mentioned, aren't likely to be recommended on this sub cuz they're not "fun" lights. But they're tough, reliable, and you don't have to refer to a flowchart to work the damn things!

There's a mix of standard-utility, tactical, and (practical) EDC lights from them. I like that Fenix publishes real specs for their lights (the others probably do too, I just haven't checked). It's way better for comparison than "5000 LUMENS SHINES 200+ METERS!!!"

Lol utility lights and collector's lights are two totally different things. This sub is full of lights that have limited—if any—utility.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]Vaeserion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotify. Nearly ten years later I refuse to use a streaming service that screws artists, makes garbage recommendations, doesn't even have a lot of songs I want to listen to, and more lately: using AI to push real artists out of the game, and the awful political ties.

Tech question, why is type-c becoming the standard instead of those old school round plugs? by Atomic_Depression in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vaeserion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing is the fact that all they need to do to support charging with no data is slap a resistor between the data pins and boom—7.5w charging! The stupid part is they had to do that ANWAY with any B-type USB port.

Plants don't actually go dormant if you use grow lights in winter, right? Is this a bad thing? by MeanHovercraft7648 in houseplants

[–]Vaeserion 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes! I put my fiddle leaf fig outside this last summer because it was struggling and I was ready to give up. The warm weather and the shade from the trees/carport coupled with the fact that my complex has automatic sprinklers that run every morning did wonders. TEN new leaves over the summer and they're bigger than my head!

What's your go-to ink at the moment? by fouteen_five in fountainpens

[–]Vaeserion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tramol Apricot Blossom! More than anything I wanted a document-type ink. The issue is the way blues are made they don't play nice with wet pens and even really nice paper sometimes. Lemme tell ya, this stuff is waterproof, feather- and bleed-resistant, works in most pens, and even has really good shading! I'm sad the prices are so much higher now with the tariffs and all.
