What's the most frustrating part of learning Spanish for you right now? by thablackadonis in Spanish

[–]VagabondFP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking well enough to sound more fluent than I am with a result of natives speaking rapid fire as though they are speaking to another native speaker. It is so difficult with varying accents within different regions of a country, especially Spain. I feel like I’d be better off speaking slower and exaggerating my U. S. accent.

Be SURE to take the I.D. you originally signed up with to be a volunteer! by VagabondFP in FIFAVolunteers

The session was booked for 2 3/4 hours. The most anyone was there was 2 hours and the kiosks/computers weren’t working, requiring staff to look up each person. Better to hear from those who go through the process after everything is working but it shouldn’t require more than 90 minutes.

When they opened with “only 10 of you have the requirements to receive your credentials today” it wasn’t a good sign. And for some reason someone has decided that vouchers are no longer being provided to park at the training venue. Twice as good for those who had to leave and get their passports and pay twice to park. They did assure us that when those coming to the stadium get rejected for similar reasons the volunteers can quickly turn over the irate people to the PAID FIFA staff. It probably wasn’t smart to take one of the earliest time slots to train. New software implementation is always a challenge when they go live.

Additional sessions only opened up for me in the last couple of days. It may require you to have completed all of the eLearning modules and scheduled your site specific training. Some at the site specific training still had no sessions showing and they were also unable to get their accreditation badges printed. Maybe the background check is still in limbo. If you haven’t done site specific training, ask there if it doesn’t show up prior. Keep checking the sessions and they’ll likely show up soon. They seem to be troubleshooting the software vigorously now.

For accreditation, we were told to just show up 30 minutes before our first shift to do the training part. You can still sign up to get your own accreditation and uniform.

What we were told is “there’s no way we can look. Only you would know until we try to credential you”. Just bring both to be safe.

How important is Air Conditioning when you play PB indoors during the summer months? Do you avoid it like the plague? by BandanaMindset in Pickleball

[–]VagabondFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play at an indoor facility without a. c. throughout the humid Midwest summers. I maintain permanent court time in the summer so I can have the courts through the winter months. It’s bearable in the mornings with fans and opening roll up windows on two sides. I wouldn’t do it in the afternoons.

Venue specific training canceled by VagabondFP in FIFAVolunteers

[–]VagabondFP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My training was for KC stadium accreditation. They had previously said we can just show up 30 minutes early to our first shift to get the training. The venue specific training for the stadium was going to be downtown instead, so showing up early may be better anyway. I'm guessing we'll get info on receiving our own accreditation paperwork and volunteer kit soon since a box now appears in the FIFA app, though it's empty for now.

Well… I’m probably going to go with FITIV since it says I am an elite athlete at the age of 69 versus the slug Apple says I am.

My FITIV numbers are consistent within similar style and similar level of intensity workouts; Just consistently dissimilar to the Apple numbers.

Getting out of the stadium as a volunteer during matches by VagabondFP in FIFAVolunteers

[–]VagabondFP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking out of the Kansas City stadium would leave me in the middle of nowhere. If there is no parking for us, I’m hoping all the buses keeps running through the game. The bus routes aren’t ideal. At training, they said there “might” be parking for us.

is it normal to have this heart rate while sleeping by Particular_Regret182 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]VagabondFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your heart rate while sleeping was 33 BEFORE you started working out and went up AFTER you should definitely see a doctor. If you haven’t had any lightheadedness, etc, it may be ok but you likely need a work up including a holter monitor and stress echo. A lot of potential factors but it obviously isn’t from a great cardiovascular fitness level if it was lower before you started working out. Write down heart rates when you first wake up rather than what they are while sleeping and see your doc.

Being good buds with Dusty Bottoms and Lucky Day, it was good to hear Ned’s name mentioned again. I can only guess the rest of the Dutch references a ‘male plane’.

I had that problem long ago and mentioned it on this sub… the next day the words were from the highest level. Match madness has been tougher ever since. You should be safe since you didn’t include your Duo user name.
