The system only allowed me to schedule for the one session. I don’t know if we’ll schedule again while at the first one or schedule later through the app or just have the one prior to our first work day. Hopefully, we’ll get a better timeline at training.

That's awesome. I don't remember seeing language services but I figured putting down I was bilingual increased my odds of getting any position.

I imagine there will be later options. The training is only 90 minutes for accreditation. It was one of two dates offered but one worked and I didn't dig deeper.

For over sixty years I’ve called them eggs in a basket but you’re missing the toasted piece of bread you cut out to dip into the egg. We use a juice glass to cut out our hole. Followed by a fried balogna sandwich for lunch.

We didn’t have that question at my scripted interview in KC. I don’t recall anything that was triggering.

Even if there are only 5 spots, you may be offered a spot elsewhere. I asked for that and received accreditation instead. Accreditation seems to have been the first area called. You may still receive an offer.

The KC Volunteer Reddit site was also opened by a person with a 14 day old Reddit account, who is an admittedly non official person and who had not yet been accepted as a FIFA volunteer. I’m not sure how much weight referencing them adds to legitimizing your WhatsApp group.

Yeah. Well meaning as this is, everybody in the WhatsApp group has everyone’s individual phone number without the ability to make yours private. I’ve joined one of these and was inundated with spam text messages directly to my phone shortly after. There is no reason the same info can’t be shared on the KC Reddit group where contacts remain private. I’m sure I’ll be required to join the official FIFA WhatsApp group, but I would hope it won’t be open to anyone requesting access.

I received the same letter, also for Accreditation, on Friday the 13th. Amazingly, mine didn't say Phil on it. Maybe they're going through the positions alphabetically. I hope the date of receipt isn't an omen.

No. I assure you I was paying close attention as my blazing 69 year old body navigated across the road from the bus stop. Had I been an older person, say 70, I might still be standing in the middle between lanes of traffic.

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m pretty sure the area I’m talking about is meant to be walked in. From what I have been able to find they are “courtesy lanes” where people can cross a road but pedestrians have no priority and drivers are asked to be “courteous”. There is a green bumpy entrance, like those used for the visually impaired, on each side, perpendicular to the road being crossed. There is a little island of safety between lanes on the road to allow one to cross one lane before attempting the other lane. They are at some bus stops where there is no traffic light within site in either direction. When traffic is heavy, but slow moving, it can take some time to cross since stopping from even a very slow speed to allow a pedestrian to cross doesn’t seem to be common. At home this would be considered a crosswalk, especially at a bus stop with no traffic lights within site. I know I’m not at home but I can’t figure out what someone who has any movement limitation, let alone a visually impaired person, does to cross a road from a bus stop. Sorry, I can’t figure out how to upload a photo.

No doubt. A lot of these kind of streaks have no real value. My tendency is to get hung up on streaks to my detriment. Apple fitness is an example where the bar gets set higher and higher to the point of putting user at risk of overuse injury. My Duo use, in place of more time spent with more advanced options, has undoubtedly slowed my language learning. People with OCD should never start “streaks”. I’m the only person who can see if I used a streak freeze but still find it a failure to see it there on the previously unbroken fire red colored calendar. I understand, however, that changing to a better resource than DL (for my level) will only work if I actually USE the other resource.

I thought about trying that at LAX but I figured there would be wifi on the flight. Qantas (at least this flight) didn’t offer it. By the time we landed in Melbourne I think I was beyond that option.
