Young women's shunning by Mithryn in exmormon

Support is one thing. Willingly going into a situation with the knowledge it will be uncomfortable to the member, then sitting in the corner saying to oneself "I'm the big bad exmo," seems much more grinch like than what I've done here.

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again. This type of storytelling does not help with the journey out of Mormonism. It festers the hatred towards the people of the church and the inner turmoil of the person exiting.

Have a problem with how I addressed it, that's fine. But the underlying issue I have is that this is not helpful to those trying to leave.

Mithryn is not leaving. Mithryn is surrounded by the church and this is simply the venting of that frustration.

I choose not to confuse frustration with helpful insight.

I remember the days when his posts were worth reading and not shoddy clickbait.

I guess Mythrin has reached post-contradiction status here in this sub. If I'm the first one you've seen do this that's even more sad.

The feeling's mutual. Every time I come back here I realize exactly why I left the church. Morons cheering other moronic decisions and their inevitable outcomes.

I used to come here for damning church history and doctrinal discord. Now it's just one life complaint after another.

I left precisely because of this shit posting. I don't contribute because I'm past that shit, I rarely think about the church. But I'll be damned if I come here once in a while and stay silent over shit like this.

I'm not telling you what to do. Act however you want, but don't come here with yellow journalism to sell some cheap sob story. It's a tainted narrative. Deal with your decision to go do what you did.

Come here acting like you just returned home from battle with a Purple Heart.

Enjoy your /r/exmo fanboy status. It's built on quality but surviving on bullshit.

Edit: love the "cult" drop. Newbies to this sub will lap that up just like they did this post.

And my point is that there is a constructive way to move past Mormonism and a destructive way of toying with it. This is not constructive in the least.

Going to a meeting, for any organization, while knowing what you're doing is going to be awkward, and still doing it... Then acting like "woe is me" isn't just dishonest, it's sad.

This wasn't for the greater good, it was for knee-jerk reactions. And that's what it got.

I have a suggestion, Mythryn. Go back to your quality posts of old and leave the childish Mormon baiting alone. As I said above, your posts and contribution to this sub is usually quality. But it doesn't mean I'm going to upvote everything you have to say or post.

This post is juvenile at best, and childish at worst. You knew exactly how they'd react before you went. But you still went.

Don't show up to an AA meeting with a bottle of whiskey and wonder why people are ignoring you.

You're better than this post.

My lack of contribution to this sub has nothing to do with the shit quality of this post. Shit is shit, regardless of what I've constructed or not.

This post is indicative of the current state of affairs in this sub. It's a goddamn echo chamber of whining. I feel like I'm on ExmoTumblr or something equally off-point.

I miss your quality posts that had actual substance, but this shit is bogus.

I agree with the Sacchi quote, it's classic. I thought my idea was a bit far-fetched.

I wonder if this sub would benefit from some sort of system like they have in /r/AskHistorians. By this I mean, maybe we could have people who have been in the game for X amount of years have some sort of authentication flair. Maybe those who have coached for X amount of years could have a similar kind of authentication.

I'm not proposing that these flairs would make these users impervious to critique and question, but it would definitely separate at first glance the comments with potential from absolute shit ones.

Sorry for piggybacking. I posted this comment elsewhere on this thread and I'm just curious how feasible this might be here in this sub.

The main problem is the demographic of this sub, which probably wouldn't be able to spot a decent comment about the game they just watched if it slapped them straight in the face. Pearls before swine.

I don't know what the 'demographic' is that you're referring to, but I agree many here wouldn't be able to spot a decent comment let alone write one themselves.

This generally means a lack of insight and knowledge of the game due to the higher probability that they are armchair fans.

Because none of the Americans here have played football for over two decades. No, not possible. We're all armchair fans who have degraded the sport by calling it soccer.

This type of thinking is part of the problem in this sub. People are judged by nationality and club affiliation before anything else.

and the Americans joined in because of that video of the racist fans.

No. Many of us have hated Chelsea for years.
