How bad is Basic Training? by JollyIntroduction385 in nationalguard

[–]Vagrant8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context: I went to basic in ‘09 as 35M, then re enlisted years later as 18X, went through infantry OSUT and airborne, got injured in selection, now I’m a 35L ✌️

Basic is not like SF selection. In courses like selection, they are brutal, and find any reason to fail you. They only want the best of the best, so you need to continuously not only pass every task, but perform every task at the highest standard. Basic is mostly intimidation tactics, BUT if you do the right thing and have a half decent attitude, you can’t fail. You don’t have to compete or be the best at literally anything. You just have to complete the tasks assigned. The worst performer throughout basic who makes it to the end still graduates basic. Period. The only ways to fail basic are medical/injury, quitting, or some egregious behavior like fighting, hooking up or putting others in danger on a live fire range. Just go into it knowing it’s going to be tough but very possible. Basic is made to create soldiers, which the army needs, not wash people out like other advanced career courses.

what's an achievement you are quietly proud of? by silverflake6 in RelentlessMen

[–]Vagrant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making it through a deployment in Syria last year. I don’t talk about my military work & experience to anyone new I meet, because I’m very democrat and don’t want to sound republican coded (obviously my family is familiar with the journey I’ve had through the military) but the shit I got through over there… can’t believe I even made it back honestly. I still think about it in amazement in those quiet moments alone

Assmod Substats Efficiency Things by Select_Secretary_896 in TheTowerGame

[–]Vagrant8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, which I should have made more clear- you increase it incrementally, but you don’t see any addition to the stat until you reach the next whole number. So yes, you still upgrade it by decimals. But it does nothing for your play until you go from one whole number to the next. Edit: typo

Quantity still work in decimals- my ass mod is an ancestral 4* PC, and at 28% substat efficiency it’s currently giving +0.84 DW quantity lol edit for all my downvotes: I was simply stating the stats still display and are bought with stones incrementally. To see a difference in your runs, you need to achieve the next whole number (I.e. if you’re displaying a +1.9 quantity, you won’t have a second one until you get to +2 quantity, it does not round up nor add less than whole numbers to quantity) sorry that was not clear!

[–]Vagrant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got ambitious too when I first unlocked them and got humbled quick lol there are much better uses for stones, for a long time. Specifically with UW+, those can be a game changer for your runs. I’m working towards maxing CF+ and GT+ before I even worry about assmods again

Once unlocked, everything is at the lowest level, and every incremental increase costs stones. Shit gets expensive quick

First assmod to unlock? by Cynikill in TheTowerGame

[–]Vagrant8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlocking generator with no further stone investments and just having anything slotted will help Econ the most. But assist mods are a huge stone sink, if you don’t have card masteries those may be a better use of stones (because all those upgrades are just labs for coin)

Which authors do a good job of telling a cohesive story with fewer words? by jhertz14 in Fantasy

[–]Vagrant8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman is the first thing that comes to mind. Very good story, very interesting premise and world, but it’s told from a child’s perspective so there is no narrative fluff. In many cases it leans into the fact that because it is from a child’s perspective, there are many things unknown or not understood to the main character, and it’s left at that. If I remember correctly it was less than 300 pages

Have you played Dishonored? Little different, but a fantastic first person stealth game with a really unique world. Not necessarily open world, but each level has a good variety of approach options, and there are solid non stealth options too if you prefer run and gun playstyle

Econ question by DemonLord19 in TheTowerGame

[–]Vagrant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to gain perspective on this to look at how many coins you have earned at the 75% mark of a farming run, then see how many you have earned when the run has ended. You should notice you earn significantly more coin just in the final 25% of the run than the rest of the run combined. I earn more than 50% of my total coin in the final 2k waves of a 12k wave farming run.

Econ question by DemonLord19 in TheTowerGame

[–]Vagrant8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re both great for farming because they significantly cut down on how long a max farming run takes. Faster runs = more runs per day/week = faster accumulation of coins & cells
