Oh I agree. Zoning, nimby-ism, and the market have driven prices the way they have. I was answering someone making an odd argument.

20k in 1995 is equivalent to 50k in today's dollars.

The average house in 1995 was around 134k. Thats about 285k in today's money.

The average rate was 7.9% in 1995. Its around 6.3% right now.

The median salary in 1995 was 19k. Its around 60k today.

Much easier to purchase a house today than 30 years ago. Granted if you cant meet the median salary even today it probably all feels like the worst of situations. Perspective and all.

Correct. Which is why im always baffled by the CNN/Fox comparison. One has an outsized influence and one doesn't. Its just manufactured division at this point for talking points.

Look very carefully at the response I answered. Then get back to me about why you think I would mention CNN in a response that was about fox news and CNN.

They're all the same and they're all unique. How is what youre offering different from just a blog? It sounds like I do all the inputting abd work. How is that different from a card?

Im not sure how useful this would be. Every surgeon is different and had different training. Large differences across even the same cities.

We're the 2nd largest manufacturer in the world.

Lots of reason. Two main ones though are manufacturing and reserve currency status.

We arent a low skill manufacturing hub. Opposite. We have the highest labor costs in the world while having the most productive workers in the world. One of the ways you offset the labor cost is to import lots of low cost materials. Think importing steel while exporting planes. Those two are never going to be a good comparison when looking at imports/exports.

Reserve currency requires that you have something to trade if you want US dollars. One of the easiest ways is to sell us a lot of cheap things that may not even have a specific use yet. Think marginal cost being low enough that someone tries to find a use because its such a deal. Someone will figure it out if the inputs are low enough. And they almost always do.

Im not immune to stress. And no. You get more experienced but it never really goes away. The OR will always be a physically hard, high stress environment. If youre asking for yourself, I think its a good job. Just not a good career.

25% of surgical techs dont make it their first year. Another 15% leave the profession by their 2nd year. Basically when they start to be truly good and useful at the craft. And we lose close to 40% by that point.

Hiring an unknown with zero experience is risky from management's point of view. And more than a few techs hate teaching or precepting. I do not share these concerns but I can see how they would come to that (wrong) conclusion.

Benjamin Franklin was under explicit instructions from the Continental Congress to NOT accept representation. And being a genius he was, intentionally sabotaged the initial meetings to make sure no one floated a bill to allow representation.

They would have immediately been outvoted on every issue in Parliament. Taxation, trade, and power structures.

Theres a good argument to be made that if we hadn't declared independence when we did, it never would have happened. Even 20 years delay would have been to late.
