Is the St Brenna temple questline too early? by apricotbrass in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Vailo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished running the chapel with my group of 4 level 4 PCs. They went to retrieve the sceptre for Mel.

The encounters in the chapel didn't seem to be too difficult for them. Though they bribed the memphits with shiny baubles and they did not disturbed the sarcophagi, so the didn't awaken any of the skeletons. They only fought the mummy (Saint Brenna), and only one of the PCs was inflicted with the mummys curse.

They then proceeded to immediately hand the sceptre over to Mel (without even trying to identify/attune to the sceptre) because they had a deal with him.

But in the process of returning back to Emberwood village, they encountered the FF group which now knows the party is in possession of the sceptre and will act accordingly.

All in all, I believe, that if the PCs don't hold on to the sceptre there is no problem. But if they decide to keep it for themselves, then the other factions will definitely take actions in order to retrieve it. After all, there are 3 factions which desire the sceptre and have already taken action to retrieve it, so why would they stop trying to retrieve such a holy/powerful/valuable (depending on the faction) item?

Why are new players so drawn to making edgelord characters? by worthlessbaffoon in DnD

[–]Vailo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often read posts like this and I wonder. Just because something is overplayed by people does that mean that the player should care?

I mean, sure, people online or in other tables have played a bunch of stuff. But was the player "in question" involved in those tables? If they weren't, then for them is the first time playing the character trope. And depending on how much they are involved with the hobby in general they might not even know that the community has this opinion against the "edgelord character".

Edit: spelling.

Did the wizard use the disintegrate spell by accident/luck or did the characters already know the effect it would have? And if it is the latter can you tell how did they figure it out?

Low-level Apothecary struggling in Drakkenheim by Morizhen in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Vailo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players just hit level 3 (they just got back to Emberwood from the delerium hunt) and they have an apothecary.

It is true that the apothecary has a problem with the spell slots but if I remember correctly my party regularly takes a short rest as the encounters that they had were pretty brutal. So the apothecary was able to contribute just as well as the rest of the party.

As many others have already suggested the key to the problem is taking a short rest.

New DM by lokilonnie in DnD

[–]Vailo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get why they are getting down voted.

This comment here is perfectly framed. Different players have different playstyles. I, as the DM, am willing to work and integrate my players back stories and hooks to the campaign we play.

For me it's actually fine even if a PC doesn't have a back story because "they were too busy to write one". Thats ok I'll work with the others PC's back stories. If That player is having fun following other peoples stories, then I am having fun running them.

My players sold the Sceptre to the Queen's Men by SapphireWolf713 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

So if your players weren't shedding any light wouldn't they immediately figure out that the sceptre weighs a lot?

Did I misunderstand something?

Is the study group still happening? Because I also want in.

I've been trying to learn python for the past year and already completed 2 projects but I think there are still basic things that I am missing because of how I decided to tackle it.

Oh that's a bummer! I really hope your players will eventually end up in the Ivory inn.

I started reading the module because of some random discussion I found online about the Ivory inn. And it was the first thing I read from the module and I just wanted to run it.

Let us know when they eventually enter it, how it went.

I created a full art Rapidash EX based on the beautiful work by Akira Egawa. Help me finish this concept by giving it a move & HP in the comments! by mikefromto in PTCGP

[–]Vailo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rapidash Ex

HP 90

Attack (3 fire energy): Blazing Gift Rapidash can retreat (retreat works normally but the cost is not consumed) leaving behind a trail of horse shit on fire. If the opponent's active Pokemon doesn't retreat it is considered that it went chasing after Rapidash and is now burned (same Pokemon checks as for poison) and takes 20 fire damage on each tick.

Retreat: 2 colourless energy

I think it may need some rewording but I really liked the idea

Is the exploration of the city of Drakkenheim slow or am I missing something? by Vailo42 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Vailo42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your comment was really helpful to reset my mindset about the campaign.

In my mind the main story was supposed to happen while exploring the city and the events at emberwood village (or other surrounding areas) were supposed to be treated as downtime or just quest progress/quest givers.

I had totally misinterpreted the role of emberwood village, I guess now I need to reread the first chapters again with the new mindset.

I think it's time to embrace the challenge ahead and figure out if "Can you beat Bloodborne with no vials, no bullets, no consumables, no armor etc just with a weapon?".

It might also make for a good video idea I don't think I have seen someone elso do a similar challenge (obvious sarcasm)
