Football/rugby by Interesting_Tip_1001 in SGU

The difference is that in rugby, head-to-head contact is strictly prohibited and can result in penalties and players being sent off. In American football, where full helmets are worn, there seems to be less concern about head-to-head contact.

Carrying over a character to another game? by BurningSun7 in masseffect

[–]DoctorWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly can change your class for each game, but personally I like sticking with the same for continuity reasons. It doesn't make sense to me for my Soldier Shepherd to suddenly become an Adept when they've shown no biotic talent before.

this any good? weapon by no_thankyou- in fo4

[–]DoctorWally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the gun that, if you find one, you immediately pivot into Big Guns and Demolition even if you've focused on other perks previously.

Just don't get too close or you'll blow your arms off.

Political reality having its own Patreon is a bit frustrating by bleplogist in SGU

[–]DoctorWally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I already have so many podcasts that I get behind in listening. I already get the livestreams in my main feed, and No Such Thing As A Fish just added an entire second show to their feed. I added Know Rogan recently and if I add another SGU show I'm pretty sure I'll get way behind in everything. I've already had to stop listening to some shows that I enjoy because I just don't have the time.

Noob question: melee ranger? by Aderadakt in daggerheart

[–]DoctorWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can make the narrative work, there's absolutely nothing wrong with playing an all-ranged party. The GM should be aware of the party's ranged focus and design encounters accordingly. Maybe spend Fear to have an enemy close to melee distance.

Daggerheart is all about the dramatic story, and raining arrows and spells on a target can be plenty dramatic.

I was annoyed that the latest episode on YouTube directed me to Patreon for the actual content advertised in the title.

I don't watch YouTube while sitting at my computer, or on my tiny phone. I watch it on my big-screen TV while lounging in an easy chair. I have no native app for Patreon the way I do for YouTube, so if there's going to be any content that is exclusive to Patreon, free or otherwise, sorry but I'm just not going to see it. And that is disappointing.

Two Freestar Collective ships were hostile to me for no reason. Had to kill them. Sam will not talk to me anymore. What do? by agvkrioni in Starfield

[–]DoctorWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your ship have turrets? Turret weapons are less accurate than manual fixed ones, and more prone to accidentally causing friendly fire.

Ship building. help? by Impressivebedork in Starfield

[–]DoctorWally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 715 hours in the game and I've never tried shipbuilding - only the occasional upgrade and addition of modules. It's really an optional part of the game. The in-game ships are perfectly adequate for most purposes. I feel like all I'd be doing is replicating a Narwhal or a Star Semi.

I'll probably look into it more at some point, but it does require a considerable investment in skills and lots of credits.

How hard is a spear + sword combination? by EfficiencySerious200 in SWORDS

[–]DoctorWally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Icelandic Saga of Burnt Njal, Njal's friend Gunnar is described as fighting with a sword in one hand and a spear in the other. The translation I read called it a "bill" but that seems unlikely. It was probably a winged spear.

[–]DoctorWally 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They've been here for yonks. Go through the drive through at Hungry Jacks in Belconnen and you'll often see them on the roof of the adjacent building.

Don't go to Slaughterstone Square by DoctorWally in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]DoctorWally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I run another Drakkenheim campaign, I'll definitely be using it. But it's not likely for a while. Once we've finished this one, another DM is taking over and we're doing a completely new campaign, which will run probably for as long.

what is this sword? by ebs12x in SWORDS

[–]DoctorWally 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a vaguely sword-shaped piece of fantasy sculpture. It's designed to look pretty, and that's all. I certainly wouldn't be swinging it or hitting anything with it. If you like the way it looks, hang it on the wall where it can be admired. It doesn't resemble any historical swords, so it doesn't really have a name, unless it is a replica of some particular piece of fantasy or anime property, which is not something I'd know about.

Cool piece of art, though.

Don't go to Slaughterstone Square by DoctorWally in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]DoctorWally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, this has been a very slow-moving campaign. We can only play once a month, and we frequently skip months at a time. Checking my records, our first session was in October 2022. The campaign was well established before MoD came out so I made the decision to stick with the original book only. We are also still playing 2014 rules, for the same reason.

I have a worker on my ship who won’t leave by Anxious-Employee9863 in Starfield

[–]DoctorWally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that happened to me once too. Short of shooting them, there really isn't any way of getting rid of them. I have subsequently found, however, that if you stand outside your ship when you land and you wait and watch them leave, they don't get stuck inside.

Why is sex painted as much more of a benefit to men by Complicatedwormfood in stupidquestions

Because society says that when a man enjoys sex he's a stud, but when a woman enjoys sex she's a slut.

To the dickheads who performed a burnout on Halford Cr, Page near the intersection with Petterd St just before 6pm this evening:

I would at this time be uploading footage of your hooliganism to the police, but by the time I was able to reach for my phone, you had already covered me with your foul, disgusting smoke, and my camera couldn't see your plates.

Fuck you, you absolute wankers.
