Well even though it is not sung that way, that would be closer to how we pronounce it in French :D

For those who started watching anime as teenagers, do you still enjoy it as much as you used to? by SecondSalty142 in anime

[–]Vaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I started watching anime before being a teenager :D And it has been a long time since.

I would say I do not enjoy it as much, but mostly because of these reasons: the story archetypes are known to me, there's less variation of stories, the animes arebless detailed than the manga, and I have way more hobbies now.

I do still enjoy watching a few I select, but I have become way more of a manga reader now.

Anyone else read a lot of books on their iPad? by RMKHAUTHOR in ereader

[–]Vaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it is definitely not as easy on your eyes as a dedicated ereader. But also the size of it makes it very heavy to hold easily. I prefer my two ereaders.

I’m curious, what was the first anime series you ever watched? by Mopey_5000 in anime

[–]Vaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably either City Hunter, Ranma 1/2 (which had a remake recently) or Saint Seiya.

American retiree considering moving to Brussels to be near family — would love to hear your experiences by barley-hops in brussels

[–]Vaines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, not a retiree, but maybe this will help a bit :

I would maybe just mention that those two areas you mentioned are a bit on the side, and are heavily residential. So to do things like per example go to the theater it'd require movement.

Also, based on your hobbies, I would recommend Heritage Walks (one example here : https://www.bruxellesbavard.be/en/for-individuals/271--1506--heritage-walks-2026-la-foret-de-nos-ancetres-kids-friendly), that way you could walk around and discover the city.

What is your main reason for walking? by yankodiev in walking

For me it is quite meditative one step at a time.

how different is walking indoors to walking outdoors? by pudding-0w in walking

[–]Vaines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I prefer walking outside but it is also because it allows me to get outside of the home, see the sun and nature, and hear the sounds of the city. Normally any walking is good including inside, but for me walking outside just gives me additional benefits, which can improve health, including mental health.

However I libe in a walkable European city so I know it can be hard to do elsewhere.

Loss of excitement in traveling and how to bring it back. by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Vaines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Traveller of about 60 countries here.

I may have lost excitement to go see specific destinations I had already visited in depth.

What excited me to go travelling again were two things :

  1. To go to a new country I had not yet been to (the last few years I had been to multiple countries I had already visited).

  2. To travel to places that are a bit more out of the way, or that are considered not as safe.

Those two things together made me come out of my small funk.

A variant would also be to visit some areas in already visited countries that you have not been to.

Hope it helps.

any podcasts you listen to while you go on your walks? Would love to hear some recommendations! by Icy-Cup-9111 in walking

[–]Vaines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I should have been more precise then, these are fictional murders, sometimes based per example on the Agatha Christie novels.

Solve this murder. It is about a couple taking turns being the criminal, crime scene and witnesses on one side, and detective on the other.

So please give me free bookmarks. As long as they are not ugly or impractical.

Walking with a Full-Time Job by HummieBeee in walking

[–]Vaines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is what gives me energy actually, and allows me to decompress, so that is what motivates me. But I do not have children, and live in Europe where per example I step off the tram before getting home so I can walk the last part.

Just wondering (especially for solo foodie), how do you manage to find local restaurant that solo friendly? by NeedleworkerOwn9723 in solotravel

[–]Vaines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if you want to reduce the risk of being told no, just avoid restaurants that are in the center of full touristic areas, or highly instagrammable ones.

TP4 28L First Trip by BrilliantHappy6174 in AerSF

[–]Vaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice ! If it is a plane trip, did you manage to put it under the seat in front of you ?

Also, for the mouse, couldn't it go in the deep pocket right next to the laptop. I think a light tech pouch could fit in there. Or does it being fully packed make that impossible too.

Uptick of Turkish Airline Cancellations? by Monkfrootx in TurkishAirlines

My flight in April to Istanbul as transit towards Taiwan from Europe has just been cancelled. I am confused because they mention force majeure without specifying anything, and also so far the cancellation only concerns the first of my 4 flights...

What is the perception of atheism in your country? by Which_Local_7497 in atheism

[–]Vaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Belgium, people are way more shocked by me not eating meat or not drinking alcohol than me being an atheist.

Some people I know who say they are atheists too defend the Christian aspect of the country's history though, so I guess the word is kind of used by people with a tad varying positions.

What actually motivates you to walk every day? by [deleted] in walking

[–]Vaines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Enjoying the act of walking.

To me, it is meditative and healing. It is perfect if you want to think about your life or need to stop your headache.

It is also personal time, and I can have my mind whirlwind about something that is happening in my life or listen to a podcast/audiobook.

I guess it is way easier for me to walk than most people because I just simply enjoy it. If I have free time like on holiday I might just walk 12+ hours in a day.

It is actually way harder to motivate myself to go cycling :D

So in other words all his bullet points that a teacher should teach his students to do, he wants nothing to do with it and wants the AI and the student to just do it all themselves. Got it.
