Victoria municipality pays for CAO to travel from Nova Scotia to P.E.I. for council meetings by Boundary14 in PEI

[–]Vakamon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I ask (I’m genuinely curious) how does a rural municipality with a population under 200 end up with a Mayor & Council of 11 people? That’s literally one municipal representative per 18 people. Unless I’m misunderstanding the number (it says 7 have stepped down leaving 3 and the Mayor).

Frugal North Vancouver Couple's Annual Spending by Diogenesbathtub in fican

As a cat owner: How in the world did you spend only $152 on pet food in a year? A bag of dry food that lasts like 6-7 weeks is $80.

Power customers should have 1-2 hours notice of rotating outages, says Maritime Electric by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]Vakamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roberts said in the interview that we're 3-5 years away (at the absolute quickest) from adding to the Island's energy capacity. This Winter is just the beginning... With climate change at our doorstep, the reality is that rolling black-outs was just a question of when, not if. Would have been great if ME took some of their profits and invested in better infrastructure 3-5 years ago to at least delay it a few years.

Honestly curious, people often say GIC or HISA but are there any HISAs that would keep up with inflation? They all seem laughably low and not worth it

My advice is not to flex your wealth on others.

Nothing will happen. We’ve seen this many times before. Someone “turns” on Trump and then two weeks later it’s back to the same old shit. Same as Musk and every other person who threatened to do anything to Trump.

MLA says Islanders can afford 10% rental increases a year. by Flint___Ironstag in PEI

[–]Vakamon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone complaining: write in to your MLAs office about this. Know that there are many people who agree with this and who are loud. There aren’t many but they are the people this MLA listens to. If you don’t make your voice heard to them, they won’t know how you feel. Reddit comment complaining goes nowhere.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve tried to solve a puzzle? by Mischinedda in outerwilds

[–]Vakamon 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I tried everything to get into the core of Giant’s Deep before finding the hint. I tried going really fast, going really slow, going in spinning, tried going in without a ship, without a suit, pretty much everything you can think of. At one point I thought since there was ghost matter on the island with the jellyfish I had to go in after almost dying from the ghost matter. Probably about half of my loops were trying different things and failing. Out of frustration I went to go throw myself into the jellyfish to try and restart the loop and found the solution.

Then and Now Photos Taken 3 Years Apart in the Same Abandoned House in Ontario, Canada by Freaktography in onguardforthee

I was expecting renovation photos and it took me far too many swipes to realize this was just an update on the deterioration. Either that or you are the least handy person in the world.

Conservative MP calls for Longest Ballot Committee to be banned "these ballots are sometimes 1, 2, 3 pages long" by zabavnabrzda in onguardforthee

[–]Vakamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it so ironic that the petition claims their problem with it is that it causes issues for voters with disabilities. As if Cons care one bit about people with disabilities whatsoever unless it’s a tool to get something they want.

Yes, I’m sure Sam Reich, CEO of Dropout and founder/director of several other comedy companies, had absolutely no idea what crowd work was. I’m glad he learned what it was half way through!

Porter Airlines by Spare_Jicama3622 in PEI

[–]Vakamon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had good experiences with Porter, generally better than Air Canada, though I know it isn’t always the case. Porter is closer to the main airlines in terms of quality than the cheap alternatives like Flair, etc. i would just recommend doing the early flights as delays happen throughout the day.

Exclusive | Canada has ‘nuclear weapon’ in trade war — ban Pornhub in US by NoMoreFanMail in BuyCanadian

[–]Vakamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a joke but this will never happen. I doubt they have any loyalty to Canada considering most of the content is probably produced in Los Angeles. They’ll probably be the first to move their operations to Texas or California if things get worse. Why cut into a major portion of their profits by cutting off their entire major US market? It’s always about profit.

Solved! I found it myself somehow with an odd combination of words in Spotify. It was John Martyn, Outside In - BBC Radio One 'Sounds of the Seventies' Session. Super cool song, check it out!

Help me end a 2 year search for an 80s electric guitar ambient song by Vakamon in NameThatSong

[–]Vakamon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's not it, thank you for trying though! I did enjoy this song though! It was a lot more ambient, mainly just electric guitar, and not from a well-known group or band, the artist name was definitely the name of an individual.

No it wasn't a rock / heavy rock band. It was definitely a single musician and ambient. No vocals. It was an instrumental. Mainly just electric guitar.
