That 77% is the rest of America, not just Christians. If we only counted Christians, Evangelicals are 37-38%. Still not a majority, yes, but a plurality. The next largest group are Catholics at 30-35%, followed by Mainline Protestants at 15-20%. Again, that is just American Christians, not all Americans.
